The Summit is a non-denominational, non-charasmatic church designed for Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Outreach. We are a casual place where real people from all walks of life can come to cultivate relationships with God and each other. Our Pastor, Jim Dean, delivers compelling and positive messages that can easily be applied to our lives in today's world. Our worship team performs modern song selections that are entertaining and inspiring at the same time. You can learn more about God and yourself with our Small Group Program. There are countless opportunities to volunteer in our community or participate in events that benefit the entire world. We hold numerous fellowship events where we can cultivate new friendships and renew old ones.

WORSHIP TIMES:
We meet for worship every Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Cullowhee Valley School on Highway 107. Bible study and discipleship classes are available at 10:00 a.m. for all ages. Chilcare is provided from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Dress casual.

DIRECTIONS:
Cullowhee Valley School is located on Highway 107 in Cullowhee, N.C. Please enter on Lyle Wilson Road. The upper entrance at Cullowhee mountain Road is locked on Sundays!

From Sylva:

From W.C.U. :
Turn left out of the main campus onto Highway 107. Go 3/4 mile past the walking bridge near the Huddle House. Turn Right onto Lyle Wilson Road. Turn left into Cullowhee Valley School.

A History:
The Summit began with a Bible study group that met at the home of Jim and Lisa Dean in the spring of 2005. Nine persons gathered weekly for prayer and study in an attempt to seek the Lord's direction in beginning a new church that reached out to those who did not attend church or those who had no personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Summit church held its first worship service on September 11, 2005 at the Family Resource Center in Webster N.C. The dream was to begin a fresh worship experience that would honor God by bringing all who attend into a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ.

Since then the church has quickly grown into a vibrant community of faith that features non-charismatic creative worship, exciting fellowship, deepening discipleship, ministry for all ages and community outreach.

On September 10, 2006, The Summit moved to Cullowhee Valley School for Sunday worship. This allowed the congregation to accomodate space for worship, small groups and its children's ministry.

What a wonderful experience the Summit is. I was just thinking today about how unique and progressive this church is especially for this area. I was fed up with church and religion in general until I experienced what the people at the Summit had to offer. I realize now that a church is not a building with a name and label on it, but a group of people who come together to work hard, play hard, and pray hard, together as a family. I'm so excited about what the future holds for us.
