Influences
Do we really have to go through with this......?
Sounds Like
David Stockhausen after he got over the alt country infatuation and started making more interesting music for himself. I'm sure though, that you could say that I sound like any number of my influences stewed in a pot and served up in tiny bowls, piping hot. I like to think that each song has a mind of its own. Mine seem to be dark minded, heavy but like matresses, not like metal. Sad music makes me happy. Does that make me a sadist or a masochist? Either way.....it all sounds like me...trying to sound like myself. Or as Jordan once put it "very special goodbye-ey"
The Special Goodbye formed sometime in 2006. A variable stewpot of influences came together as long time friends, singer-songwriter David Stockhausen, Tim "picklock" Marcus (also of Or the Whale), and Blammos frontman Arthur Adams, got together to record and perform Stockhausen’s unique songs. With the pop influences of Adams, the electronic wizardry of Marcus, and the croony alt-country leanings of Stockhausen, The Special Goodbye is an ineffable confluence of dark-heart-aching-twangy-electro-pop. While hard to define, the sound and the songs are easy to like. Special Goodbye songs belong in a cinematic landscape with melodies that last long after the headphones are off. They live in San Francisco.

Sometimes when you're eating a lovely dinner with friends, you get interrupted by punk rock. Whether you ignore it, or whether you get down and dirty is up to you.
Yo David, I am leaving Lisboa in two weeks, but Elena says you can still come to visit......you can stay with her. My profile picture has her in it, if you choose correctly she wont be offended and you can come to visit.....
i've got to say, launching potatos 300 yards out of seven feet of pvc is far less cool than the songs you be rocking. keep up the work my friend. when you rock the east coast?

2) Your new music video plays right into my fantasy, where you are my domestic servant and you make dessert for me. The thumb on the pulse button made me laugh pretty hard.
