ramsey - you know ramsey. hopefully you know him in a good way. let's resolve our differences if we didn't connect well. ramsey trusts communication's ability to heal perception and is not afraid of being wrong. if you don't know ramsey, but still wish to be his myspace friend, please drop a line about what it is that makes you want to befriend him. ramsey is a very curious person and wants to know. to be swimming in a sea of chaos, the only thing that keeps the the weight of the ocean above from crushing everything is the amount of resistance applied to ignorance. desire may be powerful, but it's fleeting as well. friends are something everyone wants, but there are always motives. please share yourself. feel free to contact ramsey outside of myspace here: evolve(at)1919hemphill.org
Influences
family, friends, animals, strangers, open horizons, crowded horizons, everything that looks like us, everything that we must change in order that we may use our minds to their full potential, chaos, rules, authority, food, anybody who lives their truth to it's fullest, etc..."everything" and "nothing"...how can i deny anything that exists to me influence? it affects me in some way - consciously or unconsciously, voluntarily or involutarily...
here's some links that may be useful in weaving together an image (they're in no particular order and the list isn't comprehensively representative of what i would really suggest for further general study, but those conversations should be had in person, really. dynamic recall and emotional connection are too de-emphasized in scholarly pursuits.):
Veganism - My decision to live a vegan lifestyle was swift. I have been vegan since the spring of 2002. I went vegan for environmental concerns. I stayed vegan, because my health improved dramatically overnight, and I became aware of the extent to which all commercial "livestock" suffers. A responsible vegan lifestyle is the sanest and most effective choice you can make to improve human, animal, and environmental health. Better than never driving again. Better than eating organic food. Better, even, than pilates.
Google Watch - Created by Public Information Research Inc. this website raises some important questions regarding Internet accountability. For some reason, rather intelligent folks seem to trust these corporations with valuable personal information blindly (gmail, yahoo, myspace, etc. etc.), when there are grassroots, community-based (accountable) options available. There's also anonymous Google and Yahoo! search proxies on this site.
Democracy NOW! - Democracy NOW! is my favorite radio show and thanks to the wonders of streaming video is quickly becoming one of my favorite "television" shows. News is breathtakingly biased towards critical thinking and always leaves me feeling informed about important news from around the world.
Young God Records - Michael Gira's record label has an array of fascinating musicians. SWANS - wow.
Genesis P-Orridge - Read the bio and learn about modern music history.
Alternative Tentacles Records - Jello Biafra's record label. Hearing Jello speak was stunning and timely. Hearing him sing after that was incendiary!
TOOL - One of the most influential post-Nirvana rock groups. Despite fame, their collective roots are still phenomenally honored and patiently gestured towards.
Infoshop.Org - Our online anarchist community. Read the amazingly comprehensive anarchist FAQ, because we weren't taught anarchist political theory in school.
Common Ground Collective - Anarchist/Green relief effort originally based in Algiers, New Orleans. Life-changing experiences are assured for volunteers.
New Orleans Independent Media Center - Read about what's really happening in NOLA from folks on the ground with socially responsible perspectives and attitudes. There's so much we need to collectively understand about disaster management bureaucracy. What would happen if a disaster struck our community?
Independent Media Center - This comprises many of the perspectives that American mainstream media consistently ignore or marginalize. Learn about what's really going on around the world with just a few clicks. It's one of the most potent tools to come out of the anti-globalization movement in the 90s.
Alex Grey - Alex has had an incredible art career. His art book Transfigurations is amazing. He's definitely one of the most important living painters.
1919 Hemphill - It's Fort Worth's radical community center. Let's meet up here and do stuff! Sign up for the announcement email list.
Spiral Diner and Bakery - It's vegan and it's delicious What more could we ask for?? It's definitely the coolest independent restaurant in DFW.
Blue Skies Alliance - They're North Texas' clean air advocates. They fight gigantic polluters and corrupt politicians.
CodePINK Fort Worth - They're mamas, sisters, and neighbors. They're women for peace, and they do good work locally.
Timothy Leary - Don't know much about Leary? Well, you should. There's much collective history in Leary's life that makes him and his art quite worthy of further study and careful attention.
Prometheus Radio Project - They're an awesome repository of information about community radio potentials. Check out the links, too.
The Rhizome Collective - Based in Austin, they're a urban sustainability playground and host to Austin Indymedia Center, Bikes Across Borders, a Food Not Bombs chapter, among other incredible projects and activities.
The Narco News Bulletin - News from and relating to our Latin American neighbors, many of whom are closer to the Fort than we are to DC.
The Center for Coorperative Research - It's a participatory model for updating and creating information caches. This is the best stop for a 9/11 timeline.
think for yourself. question all authority. take responsibility. dig deep. love yourself. gather your senses. you will change. do something.

it takes a lot to face the reality we’re creating for ourselves. we ultimately own our lives and can change ourselves and the face of our society, because we are ourselves and we are society. reality is only chaos and what does chaos represent if nothing other than opportunity?
we find ourselves amidst the rubble of our disfigured devotion to fitting in. what’s in our control? our honesty to ourselves may alienate us sometimes, but it has saved us too many times to just walk away now. it brings us happiness - profound happiness.
it’s all related to the privilege war going on, and we are playing a role. most are suffering - profoundly suffering. . . our toys are tools for positive change if we make them such. . . our diamond studded toys can be tools as well as pacifiers. . . we must prevent our tools from becoming opiates. they reflect our nature, but we decide what we are, ultimately. we must prevent our tools from defining our NOW. discipline is a means to an end - never an end in and of itself. let’s just promise that we’ll be honest with ourselves.
[ponder the absense of most from this medium]
it’s no mystery. this small gesture is just trying to be realistic about the distance that really exists between each other and, relatively, those who don’t even count as ’others’.
sincere gestures can be sacred in the same way eating, pooping or finding an accurate map is sacred.
we bet our lives on a change that we hope is happening. but our lives aren’t better left to chance. with so much to explore and our world growing smaller and smaller and smaller it’s no wonder that the stakes are so high. with so many different ways of life being brought to our attention, of course we use that information to discover new ways to heal ourselves and our world.
if we don’t do what seems like the impossible, we shall be faced with the unthinkable. . .
