Tim- The banjo man from banjo land/vocals
------Chris- Guitar strummer/Vocals
------John- Captain Mandolin/Vocals
------Steve- THE BASS MASTER!
Influences
Ricky Skaggs, Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Green Day, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, Bill Monroe, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Hackensaw boys, and all the local bluegrass bands that insipred us to form including Big Cow, McMule, Oxford Depot, Red Molly, and many more.
The idea for The Shoe Leather Express was conceived in the summer of 2004 at a bluegrass festival at the Warwick Valley Winery. Long time friends, guitarist, Chris Baker and banjo man, Tim Rybinski decided that if Tim's son, Steve would be willing to play bass, then a bluegrass band might be born. Steve agreed and they started jamming together. After a few months of playing as a trio, John, (aka captain mandolin) was added and the four have been playing together since.
Hello Shoe Leather Express Men, thanks for adding us! As bluegrass-inspired Dutchmen (and there are only a few like us around here!), we're happy to be in touch with soulmates in the motherland of this wonderful music. I enjoyed your songs, especially Pig In A Pen. If you have the time, visit our website and listen to a lowlands version of bluegrass.
Wow! What a great time the other night!
You guys sounded great. People really took to you guys with all the dancin', clappin', and foot stompin'. We hope we can do it again somtime.
By the way, your buddy Jay (sound guy) did a wonderful job, he's a keeper!
Hey guys,
just wanted to drop in and say thanks again for the gig coming up. We are excited to meet ya'll and hopefully establish a long lasting friendship, on and off the stage. Maybe we can play a bit together as a transition so the music never stops. See ya soon!
