Sounds Like
"Overamped R&B Performed with Punk Rock Intensity."
The Sermon is an explosive, high-energy rock and roll band, known for a devastating live show. Harnessing equal parts menace and soul, The Sermon has been described as a “head-on collision of over-amped R&B and fuzz-fueled garage punk”, which has earned the band a loyal following and live shows with The Dirtbombs, Mudhoney, Dead Moon, The Avengers, Comets on Fire and others. In late 2004, The Sermon released their debut LP/CD "Volume" on Alternative Tentacles to much acclaim.
The Sermon caught the attention of burgeoning engineer/producer Marco Origel Martin, (Studio 880 / Tony Visconti / Morrissey) and in late 2006, began working on their second full-length LP/CD.
Capturing the spirit of their debut, The Sermon’s upcoming LP/CD forges new ground, bringing their brand of hard-hitting rock n’ roll to a wider audience. The new album also includes a special guest vocal appearance by San Francisco’s own punk rock legend Penelope Houston (The Avengers) and keyboard contributions by the highly-touted Kelley Stoltz (SubPop Records). Organist Dan Eisenberg and vocalists Mandy Taylor and Danyka Kosturak (The Vaticans) also help to round out the sound.
