Russian Dolls are a 5 piece band hailing from North West England and have been since their informal formation during the 2005 Summer of Love.
Famously brooding yet calm by nature, the last thing this band wants is to be a pet of the industry, chewed up and spat unceremoniously back out by our current fickle, shamefull music industry. No no no good people, this band intend to stick around a little longer than the standard 6 months slot. Not wanting to show their work until its God Damn good and ready.
With a love for good honest, genuine, real, proper, simple, old, mature, classic Rock and Roll - The Dolls are working tentatively on creating their own ode to funk and soul whilst satisfying their feral need for Rock. Currently promoting their second presentation, the much revised and freakishly different 'Balls DE.EP'
Their sound has been likened to classic Americana garage - bands of a Kings of Leon/Black Keys ilk, something which can be seen in their forthcoming recording, 'Milky Lips'.
Following the completion of their latest EP, The Dolls have been out on the road playing around the North, and after a great reception on the Main Stage on the Wakestock Festival the Band are back in Manchester to play Night and Day, before nipping up to Yorkshire to play the Zephrstock and Noisebox Festivals to round off an eventful Summer.
With interest growing from Radio and even MTV The Russian Dolls are upping their work-rate and feverishly distributing their EP to anyone who will listen, and are now being shown on XFM Manchester's new artists page, where you can listen to songs and rate the band. So nip over there and get their rating right up there where it belongs.
