Influences
We have heard comparisons to: Mission to Burma, The Pixies, Polvo, Wire, Modest Mouse, Ssion, Deerhoof, Enon, others...
We would like to disagree.
I have heard quotes such as "your guitar sounds like a calypso drum" and "it sounds like a crazy circus when you play...but I mean that in a good way"
Sounds Like
Imagine a circus train, wrapped in a fresh tortilla, with a lite sprinkle of lime, then deep fried and served up on a bed of fresh pillows. MMmmmmmmmm. Delicious.

The Orphins formed around 99, but didn't settle on their current lineup until around 2001. Their first EP/Demo was self released in 2001, followed by a Split"7 with fellow Atlanta band The Liverhearts. In May of 2004, The Orphins released their first full length titled "Drowning Cupid" on Goodnight Records, and followed it up with a short tour of the east coast. The Orphins are currently playing shows around Atlanta and working to finish their second full length release.
We love you!! And yes, we probably want to play with your band or at your house show. Please write to thomas@theorphins.com or send us a message on MySpace and we'll see if we can do it.

I have been busy on tour with Conor Oberst and The Mystic Valley Band and haven't had a chance to tell you about my new record! It's called "Bad Little Kitty" and it came out back in July. There are a few tracks to sample on my MySpace but you can also check it out on iTunes or on my own website, www.TaylorHollingsworth.com. Thank you for continuing to be a friend and I hope you like the new collection of songs.
Oh rock-n-roll, I love you so. The ATL has long been known for our hip-hop acts. Cee-Lo, Outkast, and Usher all have their roots here. However, rock-n-roll is making a heady comeback. Snowden, Deerhunter, the Selminaires, and Gringo Starhave all scratched a notch on the headboard of the indie-rock scene in Atlanta. Recently, I found yet another band to add to that ever-growing list. Club Awesome likes to have pool parties. Their party was at the Earlthats right, a big pool in the small back room. When I walked in, Derrick was wearing water wings, and lying on a lounge float. Steven had on a speed-o (obviously stuffed) whilst sporting a green swim cap. Meanwhile, the crowd looked on in what I can only describe as disgust, and tried to watch the first band, Moorish Idols. Next up were the Orphins (sexy chick bassist), and finally Club Awesome. The lead singer sounds a bit like Joey Ramone and you cant help but flail about to their music. Plus, if you feel like it, you can take a dip. Wet t-shirts + good music = Awesome.
