There is a new sound emanating through the burned-out steel mills and dirty streets of Northeast Ohio. There is a new spirit and a new energy filling the hearts of the young and discontent. With a sound as huge and awe-inspiring as the sky itself, there is a new band to watch. So, raise your flags and raise your voices…this is The Ohio Sky.

The Ohio Sky was founded in 2006 by guitarist Vince DiFranco, vocalist Rob Montague, bassist Michael Drury and drummer Eric Bambic. Their goal was to bring passionate, melodic-but-driving rock back onto the scene. With no barriers or guidelines to confine them, The Ohio Sky creates music combining the elements they love…rock, alternative, and indie.

“We want to bring back honest rock music; it’s very disheartening to hear artists who don’t write their own songs. With the concern being more focused on image and packaging. We want to tear those ideals down and burn them to the ground,” says vocalist Rob Montague.

Realizing they had much work to do and little time to do it, the band quickly traveled to Los Angeles, California to record 2 songs with the Dirty Icon production team made up of Logan Mader (Machine Head and Soulfly) and Lucas Banker (Junkie XL). Realizing then their talent for great songwriting with a strong focus on melody, “Vanish” and “The Getaway” were born.

Upon their return to Cleveland, the band began building up some steam and continued to play to growing audiences in and around the region. Word began to spread and with the support of local radio, they began to hear the call of the studio and joined forces with producer Ben Schigel (Drowning Pool, Chimaira) to record more songs for their self-titled EP which was released in June of 2007 on local independent label Approaching Storm Records.

After an amicable split from Approaching Storm Records, The Ohio Sky has recently aligned itself with Jim LaMarca, bassist from Cleveland’s extreme metal band Chimaira. It is LaMarca’s hope to take The Ohio Sky to the next level with this new partnership.

To establish a link to the community, early in 2007 The Ohio Sky held a concert at a local middle school to reward almost 1,000 students in grades 6,7 & 8 who have displayed good student behavior and academic success in the classroom during the 2nd quarter of the 2007-08 school year.

“We love this city of Cleveland and we love supporting our scene,” are the sentiments of The Ohio Sky collectively.

In the past, the Cleveland area has been known as "the mistake by the lake" but in the days to come, people may look back and remember this area with a new catch phrase: "this is where the re-birth of rock started,” thanks to The Ohio Sky.
