****Mission Statement****
The Nic provides a place to educate, stimulate, and promote the understanding of art so that people can meet, view, study, create and enjoy contemporary art of the Rocky Mountain Region.
The Nicolaysen Art Museum is one of the largest and most impressive museums in the region, with 24-25,000 visitors per year enjoying the museum. The Discovery Center is one of the largest hands-on art making facilities in the region. The NIC houses a permanent collection that includes local, regional, national, and international artists and exhibits contemporary art from the well-known local, regional, and national artists. The Museum Shop has become an outlet for unique art related materials, a place to find the illusive special gift, and a place to find unusual educational materials. The NIC's facilities are used for artist receptions, weddings, meetings, parties, and gatherings of all sorts.

I saw what I saw very clearly. But I didn't know what I was looking at. I had nothing to fit it into. I was still in a kind of limbo. There were certain things I knew, though.
