Formed in early 2004, and featuring former members of renowned Blackpool bands, Starcollapse, The Honeycats and Lady in the Radiator, The Neon Trees have quickly become a 'must hear' band with a large live and online following.
Fronted by singer-songwriter Joanna Byrne and complimented by the strong voices and instrumentation of Adam Barkhuizen, Darren Vause and Matchbox recording artist Mike Rolland, the band describe their music as 'dirty power-pop' with an emphasis on melody and infectious songwriting. The band cite their influences as The Pixies, Belly, The Pretenders and The Lemonheads amongst many others.
The band have spent much of 2006 gigging around the Northwest and nationwide to promote their eponymous debut e.p. - now into its 7th run -this e.p. has been a huge success for the band.
In mid 2006 the band were the subject of an internet blogging storm when their song about Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 'The Life and Times of Jeff' was featured on popular tech blog, 'Boing Boing'. This led to interest from international magazines and technology journals including Business Week. Understandably, the band were somewhat bewildered but delighted by this odd turn of events.
Further success came throughout 2006 with victories in the Evening Gazette's annual rock battle at the embattled Tower Lounge, an appearance at The Blackpool Odeon as part of the Ten Two film festival and 'track of the day' awards from Garageband.
2007 is looking good with the band heading into West Coast Studios to record their second e.p. provisionally titled 'Chinese Children Screaming into a Microphone'. The e.p. will be available in early March, followed by tour dates nationwide.

Sorry about the blatant advertising but I don't want anyone to miss out on this life altering musical theatre extravaganza/the biggest and best rock gig of all time.
Well, well, well, wot a weekend. And a big pish posh to those who said we could do it. Well, here's a firm but polite ;p to them!!!
Great success I must say, and we have some top secret plans at our HQ to keep it up. So this is just to say very many thanks to everyone involved. The myspace will be updated soon with hopefully some more information regarding forthcoming events.
Hello there to the Neon Trees. Do you know anyone who hasn't bought a ticket to the Blackvegas Festival yet? If so, why? This is a firm (but polite) request for all you guys to get everyone you know to pull out their sticky index finger out of their arse and get themslves a ticket!!! One week to go and if they want the good seats they better get down there pronto. Tickets are selling quicker than a chocolate coated, triple packed blueberry muffin, with a complemantary biscuit at a fat camp!!!!
This is our opportunity to show Blackpool Council that there's more to us then glitter balls, cheap Casino's and novelty sex toys (although the last one does sound quite appealing!) These guys are the ones that hold the purse strings for this town and they've taken a huge interest in the festival and will be attending.
If we can show them that this festival is what Blackpool has been lacking all these years, they are in a position to invest alot more into Blackpool's younger communtiy and concerntrate on the people who actually live here, instead of attracting stag and hen parties that Blackpool has become infamous for.
P.S. Im not just picking on you, all the bands are getting em. ;)See you there, peace and peas xxxx
Hey,
Were playing at Blackpool Zoo this weekend!

Fucking good stuff lads and lass! I get these songs stuck in my head that often i feel like i wrote them myself. The choruses are catchier than chlamydia .
I had a listen on my lunch break. The new recordings are amazing! I'm very impressed. Well worth all the hard work in the studio! "Bring on the album" I say.
