Kaiju Daisenso … Japanese for "Giant Monster Battle." It is from this notion of a great clash of evils that THE MONSTER PROJECT takes its inspiration: the terrifying against the horrible, the wicked versus the cruel, the gargantuan opposite the colossal.
An evolutionary offshoot of the New York City progressive art-rock collective with influences ranging from Black Sabbath to Bernard Herrmann, the Project presents creative but faithful rock arrangements of classic monster movie scores. The septet performed several times in 2005 and 2006 before dissolving, having accomplished what they set out to do, but not before recording their entire répertoire. That full-length album, over 65 minutes of monstrous music, will be available in February 2007.
