Meghan's Interests
|
| General | WWII and art crap seem to take up most of my spare time, though I have began to do home repairs and random hiking/wandering. As for WWII, I'm interested in the rise of the Nazis, their politics, and what truly went on at the concentration camps. I look forward to learning more on the aspect of the Russian side, as I do not believe it is well studied. But I do not limit myself in learning only that. I am truly a nerd at heart and a sponge as well. I enjoy being educated as much as I enjoy being able to work with my hands.
As for art, I go for anything. I am not picky as to what I dabble in. I try to be the eclectic type, which is just a fun word to use. It sounds more spiffy than it really is. But please, do not try to get me to be more specific with the types of art that I am interested in. The list is constantly growing and changing. I can give you an idea of what I have tried and would like to, but I even forget.
| | Music | I like rock, hard/heavy rock, classical, classic rock, industrial, goth, 80s. My two favorite bands are Alice in Chains and VAST. But really, there's a long list of who I like. Here's a random few: Nirvana, Depeche Mode, Apoptygma Berzerk, The Cure, A Perfect Circle, Billy Idol, Andrea Bocelli, Assemblage 23, Bauhaus, Bush, Chris Isaak, Covenant, VNV Nation, Cracker, Duran Duran, Enya, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, Porcupine Defense, Goo Goo Dolls, Gravity Kills, Inxs, Live, Mad Season, Orgy, Prodigy, Radiohead, Rammstein, The Rolling Stones, Santanna, Sarah McLachlan, Smashing Pumpkins, Soft Cell, New Order, Aha, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Staind, Switchblade Symphony, The Sisters of Mercy, The Smiths, Tool, U2, Velvet Revolver, X Marks the Pedwalk, Cars, UB40, Jars of Clay, Elton John, the younger, not creepy days of Michael Jackson, Foo Fighters, R.E.M., The Wallflowers, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Queen, Ayria, KMFDM, MDFMK, Placebo, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Filter, Stabbing Westward, Audioslave, Chris Cornell, Akira Yamaoka, Oingo Boingo, Tweaker, E.S. Posthumus... so on and so forth. | | Movies | I seem to be drawn more towards WWII dramas: Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, The Pianist, and Downfall. Aside from that, Dead Man Walking was a very moving film and I did like Spielberg's adaptation of War of the Worlds. For some reason, I honestly do not watch many movies unless I see them in theaters or someone forces them upon me. | | Television | LOST, LOST, and more LOST! Ok, so I like that show somewhat. How could you tell? I'm not obsessed with it, I swear!! ...OK... I lied. Aside from that, I really do not watch much TV. When I do, it's either something educational, since I am silly like that, or amusing...like Dirty Jobs, Myth Busters, America's Funniest Home Videos (I like watching people do stupid things), and Ninja Warrior. | | Books | I really do not have an author I follow, except for a weakness with H.G. Wells. I'm sure it is obvious by now that I read a lot on WWII. I have a small library on it too. I also try to keep myself rounded by keeping up with the classics as well while picking up on works of noted philosophers and theorists. Even then, I still like the mindless, but good, stories like everyone else. I also study from the Bible. | | Heroes | My mother is a true hero for me. Through thick and thin, she has always been there for me, even with our fights and disagreements. Aside from her, I have found Ernest Gorden to be a huge source of inspiration. He encountered so many trials during his life, especially in the Japanese POW camp, and was able to turn them around with a positive and forgiving outlook on life. He found God in the most unexpected of places and allowed Him to carry him through.
Another woman that inspires me is Kay Redfield Jamison. She is a well noted psychologist that wrote a book on her constant battle with manic-depression. Not only does she put the risk of having her job on the line because of this, she is brutally honest as well, putting all on the table.
Elie Wiesel is another awe-inspiring man. Being a survivor of Auschwitz, he wrote one of the most well known and noted memoir of his time there: Night. Constantly fighting for the rights of not only the Jewish people, but for humanity in general, he is respected by most that know of him.

Meghan's Blurbs |
About me:
I'm a lesbian that does not like women. I am also the prissiest tomboy you will ever know. If I could get away with it, I would do all of my work in dresses and heels, but I do not want to ruin such things. I am definitely a shoe horde, having over 40 pairs, maybe even 50, sitting in my closet. Clothing is taking over as well, and I'm constantly weeding out those that I hardly wear anymore.
I am a full-time student going to RCC. I will at least major in psychology and maybe add some art history in as well. I do not want to give myself too many options there as my mind will often change.
WWII is a huge interest of mine. I find the Holocaust and Nazi politics morbidly fascinating. That does not mean I agree with any of it or even like what happened; I just like learning on the subjects. I have a small library on the two aspects that I mentioned and love learning as much as I can about it. I admit it: I am a nerd. Education of any type is very important to me and a huge part of my life.
I am crazy, no doubt about it, but people seem to find that endearing or at least amusing. I know I do, but that is not saying much. I am easily entertained.
I have more theories and ideas than could be listed on a roll of toilet paper. Unfortunately, 99.9% of the population does not care, and I have not met the .1% that does. Because of this, I am forced to tell such things to my dog, but she seems confused as well.
Speaking of dogs, I am a critter person, no question about it. The more people I meet, the more I adore animals. Currently, there are 4 dogs, 7 cats, 1 guinea pig, a rabbit, and a chinchilla residing in my house. Granted, about 3 of those are not mine, but I am the main caregiver and cleaner-upper. I seem to be a magnet for all things furry so most of my animals (11) were strays. Now, they are fat, happy, and treated better than anyone in this house. There's something wrong with that...
Now that I have wasted time typing in all of this mumbo-jumbo that no one will read, I shall leave on this very important note: spooning leads to forking.

Who I'd like to meet:
Please, I’m only looking for friends. Pay attention to my profile before you message me. Key sections to look at: About Me, Who I’d Like to Meet (which should be what you are doing right now), and Meghan’s Details. It should be a no-brainer, but then again, this is myspace. I have given up on intelligence here.
While I am flattered by random “Wow, you’re hot/pretty/whatever” comments, I would like more of a conversation than that. If you just want to add for the sake of the number, go to my crafty page.
I am not looking for "the one," so no more booty calls (or messages I should say) guys. Besides, I doubt you would even be my type. It seems rare for a male to actually have testosterone anymore. Oh yes, there is no need to bother contacting me for anything more than online chatting if you bathe any less than once daily and/or do not brush your teeth at least twice a day. That is just disgusting.
If you want more than that, keep looking. You're not getting it here.
I have contacts:
AOL IM: xthemisskittyx
Yahoo!: xmissxkittyx
MSN: the_misskitty@msn.com
Yes, I have a thing for “The Miss Kitty”. It makes things easy. There is also a story behind the name, so I am not a total nerd there.
