| About The Heist |
A very lengthy, in-depth account of the progressive hard rock band THE HEIST is possibly in the making. If it does, one day, see the light of completion, information on where to access it shall be posted here. For now, two renderings are presented. The first one just lists the main events "headline" style. The second is a fairly detailed "short story" which is several paragraphs in length, and can be found under our blogs section for those who want to know a little more, without reading an all-out novel. Herewith presented is the long awaited and necessary history of THE HEIST.
* March 1, 1991, Rutgers University, NJ - Guitarist Robert Jodha plays a "one-off" gig with a couple of chums from around the area. This show marks the first time a semblance of original HEIST material (all written by Jodha) was performed publicly. The act was named by drummer Chris Conley as JOKER (also with Terry Williams on bass).
* February, 1993, Rutgers University, NJ - Though Robt. had played with his brother Mark Jodha (drums) publicly prior to this date, this marks the first time the brothers played an all original set consisting of HEIST material. They played under the name THE END (also with Jim Beach on bass).
* Nov. 5, 1994, Terrapin Tavern, New Brunswick, NJ - First gig under the name FEAST, playing original songs entirely from THE HEIST catalog (Robt. Jodha - guitar; Mark Jodha - drums; Jeff Margolis - bass/vocals).
* Spring/Summer 1995 - Dean Vinci replaces bass guitar position.
* 1997 - M.G. Solo arrives as temporary vocalist. It is discovered that the name FEAST is trademarked by another band. Robt. Jodha comes up with THE HEIST as new band name, eventually securing U.S. government trademark w/in a few years (same original music & ideas, new permanent name).
*August, 1998 - THE HEIST hauls into studio to record 65 minute, self-titled debut (Robt. Jodha - guitar; Mark Jodha - drums, some vocals; Dean Vinci - bass; M.G. Solo - vocals). Recording and mixing is complete in 48 studio hours on analog equipment and mainly "live" first takes. Vocalist M.G. Solo departs from the band during the mixing process.
* September, 1999 - Album hits the streets Labor Day Weekend.
* January 19, 2001, Plum Street Pub, New Brunswick, NJ - Vocalist Mikie D. sings his first show with THE HEIST; same night is drummer Mark Jodha's last show (also with Robt. Jodha - guitar, Dean Vinci - bass).
* June, 2003 - Michael Magliozzo joins as new, permanent drummer; plays his first gig with THE HEIST Fri., June 13 (also with R. Jodha, D.Vinci & Mikie D).
* August, 2006 - Guitarist Robt. Jodha releases 69 minute all-instrumental electric guitar album "Volume 1, Sonic Hallucinations" (recorded in summer, 2005).
* January 25, 2008, The Stone Pony, Asbury Park, NJ - Vocalist Mikie D.'s last show with THE HEIST (also with R. Jodha, D. Vinci & M. Mags).
