Rags and bones and pipes and tones and lovely delights wrapped in horrific ribbons. One must listen really to the tunes and then begin a long adjustment to what may or may not be taking place during these tunes. Lyrics should be taken as metaphorical buckets full of birds. Dig? One must listen with ones elbows or ankels or chins or ears.
Formed in Summer of 1994 The Gourds has been a mainstay of Austin and the National roots music scene for a decade. Having produced a solid 8 recordings and toured far and wide, the boys are still playing fab shows and burning lots of rubber on the tires of their well travelled van. This November will see their first even appearance on Austin City Limits TV show. Recently featured on NPR's weekend edition as well. Ask for it by name, The Gourds.
I am so sad. You guys are playing in my hometown in Boise at the end of the month. I am a poor woman, and cant make it. :( Please come back to Montana...Please?
Lookin forward to seein you fellers in Idaho! We're playin Saturday, but we'll be raisin hell Friday night. Ask around fer Chuy...The Damphools will show ya some Idaho hospitality! Sticky stuff...
Thanks for addin' us ! I'd ride my $2 horse over yonder & stick to you boys like glue if I could,... in hopes of gettin' some of yer High Brow humor to rub off on me! Mike
Thanks for adding me. I hope you get a chance to listen to my new songs. I really appreciate your music. I am looking forward to the new album. I also heard you will be in town playing at the American Alpine Club. I will be there!

I would like to reserve you guys in advance if possible. I always thought it would be cool if you played at my wedding. So, I really have no idea when that's going to be, but if you could pencil it in that youre playing at my wedding, that would be great. Thanks...Oh, yeah. Please tell me which song it is with the line..."In the spring, I'll bring you roses..." I cant get it out of my head, but I cant find it either.
Finally, after a year and a half I get to see the Gourds ACL show AND surely it has nothing to do with a Lonely album release. Without that I suppose I would have never seen it outside private compounds. I hear they give lifetime achievement awards to people who take things to the grave. ;) p.s. The Lawrence Welk Christmas show will never be the same...
Well, that's just great... goddamn 'Honeysuckle' stuck in my head all goddamn day... looks all akimbo and askance in the elevator and the breakroom... like they've never heard a MF hum before... I hope you're happy--I am... :)
Apparently I am not allowed to listen to the Gourds at work anymore because it makes me too happy and silly! Can you really be too happy or too silly? Thanks for lifting my day!
