*****It was a hot summer night in 1990 and Kari Shaw had a dream. She was cruisin' downtown Anoka in her sweet '86 Dodge Charger when inspiration came over her faster than a crimper iron can heat up. She was born to sing the music of Linda Ronstadt and all she needed was her EmmyLou Harris and Dolly Parton. Several muscle cars (and perms) later The Dollys were born.*****
The Dollys features three of Minneapolis' most sought after female vocalists: Joanna Jahn, Kari Shaw, and Andra Suchy. Kari grew up listening and harmonizing to the music of The Trio and many other female country artists of the 70's, 80's and 90's. So she decided to put together a super group to perform the music of all her favorite old-school country divas! The Dollys also perform folk and Americana hits of the past, which they love to put their own spin on. (See our sample set list below.)*****
Kari Shaw sang for several years with Dred I Dread and Wain McFarlane. She currently sings with the Andra Suchy Band and Ryan Liestman. She has appeared on several local albums and the most recent Soul Asylum album.*****
Andra Suchy is a local singer/songwriter who recently released her first solo album of country/Americana music. She has sung with just about every rock and r & b band that has palyed in Minneapolis over the past ten years. She currently sings with Hookers & Blow and has appeared on the albums of The Honeydogs and Soul Asylum.*****
Joanna Jahn also recently released her debut album of original country/pop tunes and was thrilled to have both Andra and Kari backing her up on vocals. She also sings with Steeling Dan, a Steely Dan Tribute band and is a featured perfromer every year in John Trones and Jim Brickman's holiday show at The Pantages.*****
Together these ladies bring their collective talents to the stage and the result are harmonies so tight you'll swear you're live at the Grand 'Ol Opry!*****
The band...oh what a band. The Dollys consider themselves lucky ladies to have such talented and experienced musicians backing them up. Trent Norton on bass (The Honeydogs, Hookers & Blow) Andrew Pierzina on guitar (Dumpster Juice, Mango Jam) Peter Sands on keys (The Honeydogs, Hookers & Blow) and Joe Savage on pedal steel, lap steel, dobro, and banjo (Hookers & Blow and many, many, many other country groups and recordings over the years!)*****
