The Dead-End Dropouts is an all-original alternative rock/pop-punk band hailing from Northern VA. Formed in early 2004 by guitarist/vocalist Eddy D. and bass player/vocalist Geordie, The DEDs' unique style began to manifest into a completely original and stylistic sound. "The Outhouse" (the practice space) became a breeding ground for the music. Still without a drummer or a singer, The DEDs were on what seemed to be a hopelessly never-ending quest to fill the positions. Then finally, a hit. Former DED drummer Ruben Martinez joined the project. With his thundering drumming and quick chops, the sounds began to morph from a post punk sound into more of a creative melodic yet hard sound. Former DED vocalist Mat Rick was discovered in early 2005. Again, the music took a turn for the better. The music came to life with unique melodies and catchy hooks, but it was short lived. Late 2005 Mat left due to stylistic differences. Ruben left shortly thereafter.
In winter 2006 however, Geordie and Mike both left the band on amicable terms. Eddy D. decided to restructure the band to fit his musical taste and style. In early spring 2006, Corey came on the scene and joined The DEDs playing bass. And in July 2006, Luis joined The DEDs as their new drummer. In early 2008, after true dedication and hard work, Corey decided he needed to step away from the band to focus more on his family -- we will miss him for sure! The DED's original bass player, Geordie, returned to the band in February 2008 to fill the bass position and it was as if he was never gone!
In late 2007 The DEDs hit the studio with producer Frank Marchand of Waterford Digital to produce their first full-length album which is due out in early Spring 2008.
Having played live shows at a number of venues across the DC-Metro area including TT Reynolds, Jammin Java, Fat Tuesdays, The 8x10, The Red and The Black, The Grog and Tankard, and more, this trio is a creative force in action. The music is very much alive, and is still manifesting, waiting to be unleashed.
