"Garage rock geniuses the Black have been poking around Austin
and elsewhere since 2002....The Black's only full-length CD,
"Tanglewood," was released in 2005. But the new EP "Donna" feels
like a quantum leap. This is the kind of country that Bob Dylan used
to make — lead twang, lightly strummed rhythm guitar, unobtrusive
bass and driving drums. "Eshu Blues" and the title track really do
sound like "Blonde on Blonde" outtakes. Clearly, they should have
been on the soundtrack for "I'm Not There."
--Austin American Statesman
"Capping off a night of neo-retro, the Black bakes a new set of
nuggets from its already recorded but unreleased Donna EP, which
pours classic garage pop and Sweetheart of the Rodeo-era Byrds into
a Muswell hillbilly bouillabaisse."
----Austin Chronicle
"Weaving a spell of disjointed guitar pop hypnotizing in its
interplay and charming in its simplicity. Straight Americana and 60's
British Invasion sounds, twisted, filtered, spit out shiny and unique."
--Rank and Revue Magazine
"By being able to find the formula for wry-sounding rock n' roll
that works in tandem with bluesy lyricism, The Black's sound is of
a band destined to make some serious impressions on fans and
enthusiasts."
--The Daily Texan

I do a lot different gigs Tex-Mex Conjunto, Tejano, Mariachi, Latin Rock/Jazz, Boleros, Son Jaracho, Country, Americano, Blues. My most recent adventure was to back up Wesley with a Mariachi band at the Gomy party Saturday night. It was so cool. The record company rep was really happy. I hope become one of the newest production designers in Austin area as well as the State of Texas. My former Tejano history has me in studios of Texas such as Freddie Records, Hacienda Records, Joey Records, Zazz, Tejas, Blue Cat, Amen, and the Fire Station. Companies needing my work has been Capitol EMI, Sony Internationl, WEA Latina. So, now I have started my little company called Hondo Records, my musical representation is called Frijoles, Maza Y Leche from a kids meal, bean and cheese taco with a glass of milk. I look forward to the crossing of our paths.
