Don’t remember Curdle? Then here’s a little history: Curdle were a four piece band, consisting of manic depressive songwriting genius Rob Hall(vocals and guitar), his bisexual arch-nemesis wife Emma Feathers(vocals), circus strongman Pat Butcher(bass) and self-professed astral projector Merlyn Connors Jr(drums). *****
Curdle released their one and only album back in the mid 80’s on now defunct independent label, Easy Pieces Inc. Though the album, J’accuse, spawned only four minor hits- Bergerac From The Back, Midnight Spaniard, Disco, and Up The Back Roads- it was released to great critical acclamation.
(To this day still, the esteemed music critic Sheridan Vally cites J’accuse as one of the most important albums ever to come out of the UK).*****
Their songs- tiny bursts of melody- were the catalyst for the short lived “Emotive Minimalism” movement of the time, and at the time, Rob Hall was hailed as the saviour of the UK pop scene. *****
But Curdle is a tragic tale; the onstage collapse of Rob Hall at the album's premiere and his subsequent mental breakdown brought the curtain down on Curdle’s brief career before it had really begun.*****
But I have good news! Great news! As Rob Hall’s son, I am proud and delighted to bring you this MySpace page and to announce my father’s imminent release back into society.*****
So join up folks, and let’s tell the world about Curdle. ROB HALL IS COMING BACK! SPREAD THE WORD!!
