** AWS is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to providing education, entertainment and cultural enrichment while promoting and renewing public interest in the celebration of great scores from motion pictures. **
If you play a woodwind, brass, string or percussion instrument and would like to play in an ensemble that remains dedicated to musical excellence, now's your chance!
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?
WE ALWAYS:
* perform ONLY music of film and television (no offense Sousa and Gershwin).
* avoid politics that plague so many other community organizations.
* limit the number of musicians in each section (you will be heard).
* select concert music that your friends and family will recognize and enjoy.
* captivate our audiences by including visuals, special guests, actors, and
special effects.
If you're intrigued, open minded, and excited by the notion of performing film music, why not contact us? You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Just want to say what an honor and pleasure it is to be involved with this group! Thank you Patrick and ALL of the AWS members for all your hard work and dedication. **xoxo!**
I remember hearing the AWS back in July of 2006, I think, at a John Williams concert, it was very inspirational music, then again Williams is the messiah of film scoring but that's another story. The AWS is a great concept, a concept that few ensembles embrace: film music is modern classical music. Wonderful job AWS, now if only Dallas had something like yall.
Thank you! I cannot wait to see video and hear the music played live! That tiny bit in the sampler really has me wanting to hear it all! I also enjoyed hearing the bit of Journey to the Island from Jurassic Park. That is easily one of my favorite Williams scores. Good luck!
