with live drums, bass, guitar and keyboards served hot on a bed of layered psychedelic squidge, our music can go from Lazy Sunday to Friday-Night-Mash-up in the time it takes to peel an egg.
The video below is us doing Brew at the Shamania benefit night. Sounds a little bit like you're listening with your head under a pillow, but it gives you an idea what our music's like. Cheers to Bez23 for this one.
To get an even better idea of what we sound like, this is what we sounded like through a phone at Shamania 2007. Thanks go to Bez23 again.
If you're interested in buying Tetchi stuff you can get MP3 downloads from our very own online shop or from Indiestore.com on the Player below.
[tetchi]'s first live outing was in the Summer of 2003, at an event they helped organise as part of Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, Electronica-fest. At that point we were a purely-electronic two-piece band. Later that Summer we were spotted playing by a drummer, hankering for something new, and thus started something of a habit in acquiring new members.
Since then we've been morphed and merged through various incarnations, including a spell with a flautist and percussionist, some gigs with a renowned bagpipe playing folkster, tinkering with various live combinations and finally settling on the tried and tested, hallowed ground of the four piece with live bass, drums and various keyboards, squidges and laptop madness. Add to this the ability to move seamlessly between lazy Sunday afternoon chill out and full on Friday night mash up and you have an inkling into our versatile live potential.
Various combinations of [tetchi] have played gigs at established club nights in the North of England like Cabbage (Leeds), Kulu (Bradford), Sunrise (Manchester) and cross over club/festy newcomers, The Mental Elf Collective (Hebden Bridge). As well as indoor gigs we've also entertained at various summer festivals and events like Glastonbury, Solfest, Knockengorroch, and 2006 saw us headlining at Beat-herder and The Northern Green Gathering.
Last year, while concentrating heavily on making the tunes more accessible to the live arena, we carried on from the previous years good work spreading the [tetchi] word through some more memorable live appearances, Beatherder Festival, Green Gathering and most notable among them, the Shamania festival in July, which sent a gentle buzz of excitement rippling through the psytrance forum pages.
Our aim of pushing the live side of the [tetchi] experience has continued to evolve through collaborations with VJ artists Magic Lantern, and Celluloid Disco especially, whose quirky visual endeavors have added a unique live visual/audio twist to our performances and with whose input has helped turn party rooms and festival sites into soothing, swinging spaces of socializing fun.
New [tetchi] tunes are out at indiestore.com. There's a gadget over to the left where you can have a listen.
