'DETOX CUTE & THE BEAUTY JUNKIES'? What's that all about, then? Well, it's about bringing fun and glamour back to the pop business, with tongues firmly in the cheek.
What follows is made up drivel ... we don't believe in listing endless credits from people you don't know, saying how great we are. Who cares? We don't. It's the music that matters and whether you enjoy it or not. We hope you do. Pop is dead. Long live Pop!
Anyway, we digress ... here's the history ...
It was the day before the day before yesterday - singer Paisley Pattenden was working as a scrubber for a Dutch TV station when she received a wrongly dialled telephone call from New Zealand's most famous Freeman's Catalogue model, Charlie Darling .....
Their confused conversation led to futile and spurilous arguments about the cost of Wold Fat and the number of fish in the atmosphere. In addition, and also weirdly, they discussed just how much they could copy The Primitives and get away with it .....
Darling had an idea and introduced the singer to his sensible flatmate, William 'Billy' Liar, who had a fetish for the solo works of Rick Wakeman, Rick James, Rick Astley and Dennis from Musical Youth .....
Immediately the floundering trio started working on songs and sketches, jokes old and new, while advertising in the local paper for less like-minded musicians .....
Mistakingly answering an ad for a second-hand Hoover was Debbie 'Petticoat' Laine, accomplished keyboard player and one-time lip-gloss applier to consistent non-hit girl group 'The Mystery Girls'.
To complete the line-up, Petticoat duped her ex-boyfriend Garry Swagger, (a hand-held twit-machine telesalesman and part-time annoying bastard), into playing bass for the group. In return for his services we promised him first dibs into the Sherbert Dib Dab, a deal with EMI and riches beyond his wildest dreams. (We lied on all counts.) .....
The day before yesterday the band rehearsed .....
Yesterday the band had their first argument about musical direction .....
Today they are still together .....
