Note: Before I tell you about me -- and I'm sorry that I have to say this -- unless you are a friend of mine, I will not respond to any questions concerning my layout. No, I will not make you one, even if you pay me; I simply don't have the time. And no, I will not teach you how; learn CSS and do it yourself.

I'm a college student in Ventura County. Yeah, it's SoCal, but it's not that great. I grew up in Connecticut, and I miss the east coast more every time the seasons don't change. The weather here is wonderful, if you're of the majority who enjoy 77° weather all year 'round. Personally, I find that kind of boring.
Not surprisingly, my favorite season is autumn. I have an affinity for fallen leaves. I also love the snow... if I'm indoors. Sitting curled up with a book next to a crackling fire, with a Christmas tree casting the shadows of dancing rainbows across the room, is only perfect when there's snow falling, and the world outside is so hushed that you can believe you've been whisked by the snowstorm to your own private little world.
I'm an enormous bookworm. When I was a kid, I used to get in trouble for reading too much. As a history major, my taste in reading naturally tends toward historical fiction -- two of my favorite books are Pope Joan and The Mists of Avalon. My favorite writer is Orson Scott Card. He's a master when it comes to character depth and development. His series Ender's Game and the novella/short stories in The Worthing Saga are works of true genius and have been re-read by me at least ten times each.
My tastes in music aren't particularly interesting; by anyone's account after flipping through my iPod, I should be a 40-year-old woman. Josh Groban is a musical hero to me. My favorite bands are Maroon 5 and the Goo Goo Dolls. I also enjoy healthy doses of Billy Joel, Elton John, and Michelle Branch (and I'll admit to being a thorough fan of Disney's work). I despise punk, death metal, and techno.
When I was a kid, I told people that I wanted to be an Egyptologist (I've always been fascinated by the history of ancient Egypt -- especially the mummies). Now I'm truly headed in that direction. I plan to go to UCLA or UC Berkeley for my undergrad degree, then perhaps U Penn for graduate school. I'm extremely lucky that two of the best colleges for Egyptology in the country are so close to me.
Aside from being a full-time student, I also work full-time at OmniUpdate, a company that manages websites for colleges all across the country. I came in on -- well, not quite the ground floor of the operation, but it's nice to know I'm working for a growing company that's steadily doing better and better. And it's even nicer to know that I'll never have to work retail again! Goodbye, Black Friday horrors!
I have two beautiful kitties. Because of them, I have what could be considered an unhealthy appetite for cat macros. (Some of you may have gathered this from my kitty-pidgin-talking unicorn down below.) Speaking of unicorns, I love them, too, though at my age, I'm a bit embarrassed about that. Still, the lore and beauty of unicorns have enchanted me my entire life, and my attraction to them has not yet faded.
I'm sure there's much more that I will write here someday, but considering I despise MySpace, I think I've put enough effort into this for right now. And since I do hate MySpace as much as I do, this is not a good way to get in touch with me. I'm in many places on the web, including Facebook; my username, no matter where I go, is Talashira. Feel free to track me down elsewhere.

And now, for the FAQs...
Q: Will you build me a layout?
A: No.
Q: What if I pay you?
A: Doubtful you would want to spend what I would demand.
Q: What if I pay you lots of money?
A: I might consider it. Don't be surprised if the answer is still no, though.
Q: Well, will you at least be my friend?
A: Sorry, but I'm not a MySpace friend whore. Unless I actually know you, you will not be added to my friends list.
