General Guide to Working at Registration
Check-In with the Crew Chief/ Shift Leader with the Official Reg Crew Book for your assignment.
Work your assigned job. You should be trained on it by the person you are replacing. If you are on the first shift of the day, ask your neighbor or a shift leader for instruction. Several of y'all will be trained on Thursday night at the dry run. You are responsible for training your co-volunteers.
Ask the nearest Shift Leader, if you have a question. If they can't help, ask the Crew Chief on Duty.
Don't speak to the staff (unless they speak to you first).
If you need to take a potty break, ask a shift leader to find a replacement for you. Come back as quickly as you can. We miss you and need you.
Check-out at the end of your shift and enjoy the rest of your day.
Do's and Don'ts
Do read the instructions, emails, website blurbs before you email me a question. There is a chance I'll mock you for not reading, especially if the answer is in front of your face ; )
Don't disturb Staff Members. Ever. This is for your own protection.
Do have a sense of humor
Don't ever enter the Staff area. Consider it verboten territory. It is.
Do be on time. Not more than 5 minutes early/late. We schedule overlapping shifts on purpose.
Don't loiter in the Registration area.
Do loiter outside the main Registration area.
Don't smell like the French. Many are allergic to parfum, patchouli, and the unwashed.
Do dress Austin Casual.
Don't dress like Britney Spears (in any incarnation) or the men she loves.
All cleavage (upper and lower) must be covered or we will cover it for you. With a tent.
Do I need to mention Hygiene? This includes the brushing of the teeth (after a night of drinking) AND bathing with soap.
Drugs -- No usage during Reg hours or altering reality from prior usage during Reg hours.
Do smoke 'em on the smoking balcony.
Don't smoke 'em elsewhere.
Do drink 'em if on your own time.
Don't drink 'em on my time.
Do leave the staff alone. They haven't had their shots. (While this is repetitive advice, it is muy importante).

What is SXSWeek?
SXSWeek 2008 will take place March 7-16, 2008. The event draws professionals from all over the world who are involved in the film, interactive and music industries.
During the day, these industry professionals participate in panel discussions, trade shows and other conference events at the Austin Convention Center. The nights are taken over by Film Festival screenings and Music Festival showcases.
In SXSW lingo, "Conference" refers to the panels, workshops, trade shows and other industry-related portions. "Festival" refers to the music showcases and film screenings.
SXSW Film Conference & Festival
The Film Conference & Festival will take place March 7-15, 2008.
SXSW Interactive Festival
The Interactive Festival will take place March 7-11, 2008. The festival includes panels, presentations, trade show and nightly parties.
SXSW Music Conference & Festival
The famed Music Conference & Festival will take place March 12-16, 2008.
