I just spent at week in Gucca, Serbia at a crazy ass gypsy brass band festival...it was unreal. I really got into Kurdish House remixes you can buy from cart vendors on the docks of Istanbul and the Arabic music with the filter sweeps on the saz .Southern Romanian Gypsy music is hot as hell.In New York I go see Nervous Cabaret ,Krystal Warren ,Slavic Soul Party ,The Zagnut Cirkus Orkestar ,Romashka ,Curtis Eller ,Corn Moe ,aWry ,Gogol Bordello , The Zagnut Orkestar, The Circus Amok Band , Project Jenny Project Jan, The Wiyos and The Hungry March Band .For Dj's Joro-Boro, Eugene Hutz of Gogol and DJ Reyka and Balkan Beat Box....I also fall to the feet of Baby Dee......The Dresden Dolls, Human Wine and Mishkin also make me really happy.
Sounds Like
"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, gaiety and life to everything. It is the essence of order and lends to all that is good and just and beautiful." ~ PLATO
"Damn everything but the circus!
...damn everything that is grim, dull,
motionless, unrisking, inward turning,
damn everything that won't get into the
circle, that won't enjoy, that won't throw
its heart into the tension, surprise, fear
and delight of the circus, the round
world, the full existence..."

"Sxip conjures a world of infernal calliopes and cotton candy machetes wielded by Gypsy crones with angel feet."--Silke Tudor, SF Weekly

yes we do, yes we do...so thank you. i've been lucky enough to have lots of those people pop into my life, and that all of them are talented artists like yourself, is really humbling and more than encouraging to me. means everything, it's great when it comes from anyone, but when your life is art and it comes from people who's art/music you really dig and respect, that's a huge bonus- something else entirely. yr the best sxip --eli

Dear friends, my elder bro Dima has made a page dedicated to our lo-fi studio “Happy Records” based in Kyiv, Ukraine, created for non-profit purposes. The focus of the studio work is producing indie artists we subjectively find interesting.
So please, find some time and listen to our friends’ music recorded by us at:

The entire night was magic! Eli and I will be there again tonight and can't wait to see you all again. Any plans to bring your Hour of Charm back to Boston? That was so much fun and I'd love to see that show again. If so, let me know and I can help with promoting it around here. I know your management probably has it down but I'm currently working for some bands promoting so if you need a street team, I'm yours! See you tonight!!!!
