Hi. I’m Susan Alvis. I’m the proud mother of two teenagers and I’ve been married to my husband for 18 years longer than he should’ve ever put up with me in the first place. After all, I’m not perfect but then again, he’s not either so we’re a likely pair.
My friends think I’m a workaholic but I like to think I’m just focused. I’m an author/ghost writer/freelance writer/creative soul (In other words, take your pick).
My family is my life and I’m very proud of my children. They have lived through and survived some life-changing events and in my opinion, came through them like the true champions they are and I never once heard them complain. I can’t take credit for it entirely because you see, my children are far better than I am. I often stand back and watch them in true awe. Because of the life they’ve lived, they are both often very misunderstood, and above all else cautious which isn’t always a bad thing in today’s world.
I’m forever amazed at how mature my son and daughter are and how well they handle certain situations. My daughter is truly a miracle. When she was a little girl, she fell out of a warehouse and by all accounts by those who worked to save her, she should’ve been taken from us many years ago but someone, somewhere had a better plan for her.
I think because of her tumble from the sky, she never takes life for granted. She goes with the flow better than most and definitely better than her mother.
She’s a true friend to those who want her friendship and if the child has an enemy or someone who doesn’t like her then I can only surmise that they never gave her a real chance. I’m often amazed when the little girl-thing kicks in (as it often does in the teenage years) at how well she handles things. Even when she’s angry (and with good reason at times), she tries to find the positive. She’s a kid who can find the spectacular beauty in a plain rock. Sometimes I’d love to see the world just once through her eyes.
My son is all heart too. It’s a shame more people haven’t discovered that for themselves. In fact, he’s too good hearted. Lately, we’ve tried to figure out why he runs through every dime he makes and then practically every dime I make too. We decided to track it and found a true trail. He gives it or spends it on anyone who wants it. Sure, he does the same for himself but he is one of the most giving individuals in the world and much to my surprise. Sure, he’s all boy. He’s into mischief and I know all about it but I look at it like this—I do know all about it so I count my blessings because that could change tomorrow. However, today I do have a great relationship with both of my children and in all honesty, it shouldn’t have been so easy.
We are the family members of one of the most volatile faces of crystal meth. My children have witnessed the terror of this drug through a family member’s use of one of the most dangerous drugs to ever hit our world. They know what it’s like to be caught in the crossfire of one sibling trying to save another and they know what it’s like to see their family torn apart. Because of it, they are better people.
My children do not stress the small stuff at all. If someone doesn’t like them, they don’t like them. That’s the way it is. They don’t gossip about it or question it, they just accept it. Life is too short to worry about one disgruntled acquaintance (because they realize true friends are face value through thick and thin) and the maturity in which they handle their teenage years will forever be embedded in my mind. Through them, I am beginning to see I stressed over the small stuff in my own life when we (as a family) had a much larger weighted wagon to pull.
An Introduction to Horror: Say Hello to Crystal Meth isn’t our story but it is the book you don’t want to miss if you are faced with a drug crisis in your family, particularly Crystal Meth. This book wasn’t written to make me rich by any stretch of the imagination. It’s written for release as an e-book and then will be in print later this year. It’s published by a small press with an impeccable reputation for producing quality print and e-books. Resplendence Publishing is noted for giving their authors the freedom to explore creative measures to take their books where they want to take them.
I want my book to be in your hands if you need it. If your schools or communities want someone who can show, not necessarily tell but really show the house of horrors only crystal meth can bring, email me and I’ll be glad to come and speak to your groups and classrooms. I can show you all the reasons why this drug is one to fight—not ignore.
Resplendence Publishing is currently known for their romance books and they just launched their non-fiction line. I’m so proud that An Introduction to Horror: Say Hello to Crystal Meth helped kick off their new expansion.
Small press publishing is a different world so this particular book will be sold online and in select ‘offline’ locations. Amazon and Fictionwise among other third party venues will have the book in stock but if you’d like to purchase it now or purchase it direct, it’s best to go to the publisher site at: http://www.resplendencepublishing.com/m8_view_item.html?m8:item=59-501-114-429-1
I have four real-estate titles that were with a much larger print publisher and because of the phenomenal success these titles captured throughout the US and around the world, I’ve been able to learn a lot about this business. I’ve found that I enjoy the creative control found in small press for titles like An Introduction to Horror: Say Hello to Crystal Meth because an author is able to reach their targeted audience.
If you or someone you love is or has been affected by Crystal Methamphetamines then YOU are my target audience. While I have countless romance titles out today under my pen names, few books will ever mean as much to me as this one.
This book is a self-help book and it’s for the addict, the family members of an addict, and even the drug dealers who want a quick recipe for death. Yes, I can give you the exact breakdown of what goes in death’s favorite recipe. If you’re interested in putting crystal meth on our streets then buy this book and find out why you need to rethink your career choice.
I’m just an ordinary woman who lives in a small town in rural America. I live a dull life that can instantly become very violent in a matter of mere seconds thanks to a drug one of my family members brought to our front door. The only way I can fight this now is to retaliate through writing about Crystal Meth and I’ll speak out. I have a loud voice. I want you to hear it. I’ve started with An Introduction to Horror: Say Hello to Crystal Meth and a few other projects are in the pipeline now.
Thank you for visiting me on MySpace.
