About me: I was the first blind student to be enrolled at Poseidon Prep under the newly formed "Heroes with Disabilities" Program. I'm not the biggest fan of that name, because I think it emphasizes what we can't do versus what we can. So what can I do? Project searing bolts of radiance from my hands, that's what. In fact, I've got the longest range attack at Poseidon Prep!
I was paired with a "telepathic facilitator" to serve as my eyes in combat. I really lucked out that Mindsweeper was chosen for me. Being the only blind girl at the school was totally something I could handle. I've lived without sight since I was four. But it was only last year that I realized that I was a lesbian.
I knew I was a lesbian even before I got a telepathic glimpse of the girl I have a crush on (and no, it's NOT Claire!). Mindsweeper was the first person I came out to, so it was awesome when he came out to me, too! We've been best friends ever since.
I'm pretty lucky. My relationship with my parents didn't change one bit after I came out to them. I grew up in a Quaker family (I'm adopted), and both of my parents have been vocal supporters of gay rights. The day I told them about me, they joined the local PFLAG chapter. Love ya Mom and Dad!
Who I'd like to meet: Angelina Jolie, Garrison Keiller
I am facilitating a group called 3MV for Project Redemption! The group focuses on gay people of color! If you'd like to hear about the group, feel free to contact me @ 303-945-5231 or Mark @ 303-297-8010. There are volunteer and possible facilitation opportunities!
