Band Biography 2008:
SuidAkrA can look back in their 14-year history and see 9 published albums, more than 220 gigs and various international touring activities. Following the worldwide release of their albums 'Emprise To Avalon' (2002), 'Signs For The Fallen' (2003), 'Command To Charge' (2005) and 'Caledonia' (2006), they gained many fans in Europe and drew more attention in the USA, South America, Japan and Australia.
While in 2005 'Command To Charge' was a new adventure for SuidAkrA, 'Caledonia' (2006) once again returned to the roots of an inspired, well-balanced mixture of raw death metal, plenty of harmonies, a mesmerizing folk atmosphere and catchy heavy metal. SuidAkrA's ability to blend these various sounds into a hard, fast-paced yet intricate song structure is what really sets them apart from the rest. Their variations prove that melody and brutality can be worked together to provide a unique experience for the listener.
The most recent release, the '13 Years of Celtic Wartunes' DVD + Best Of CD package marks their first release on the new WACKEN RECORDS label, with worldwide distribution handled by SPV. The 6-page Digipack designed by Kris Verwimp contains the band’s 2007 Wacken show, a special acoustic concert, video clips and interviews, plus a 17-track 'Best Of' compilation CD, as well as personal comments and unreleased pictures spanning the history of the band. It was released in Europe in April 2008 and has been well-received and much praised by fans and journalists alike. '13 Years of Celtic Wartunes' is scheduled for release on October 7th, 2008 in the US.
In 2007, highlights for the band include several shows spanning over 12 countries, participation in Wacken Open Air, the European tour with Ensiferum, and their own headlining Russian-Ukrainian tour. SuidAkrA continued to move forward in 2008 with their highly anticipated, first ever shows in the United States: Starting with Chicago Powerfest 2008, they wrapped up their US debut by playing six successful West Coast shows as a special guest on the Paganfest USA tour.
After returning from the States, the band immediately started to work on the new album 'Crógacht' which is scheduled for release in the first months of 2009...
