Ahh...where to begin? Okay, how about my *Official Favorites* in chronological order? The Bay City Rollers and Sha-Na-Na (when I was like, five), Olivia Newton-John (eight), Duran Duran (ten through fourteen), Yaz (fourteen, fifteen), The Cure (fifteen to nineteen), Indigo Girls (overlapped with The Cure), Grateful Dead (twenty to ??), ekoostik Hookah (college), Ozomatli (grad school to present), and Wyclef Jean (college-ish to present).
I also LOVE the following: Marvin Gaye, the Pixies, Justin Timberlake, Solomon Burke, Dr. Dre, Tori Amos, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Jayhawks, Violent Femmes, Pink Floyd, Ani DiFranco, Van Morrison, Ali Farka Toure, Mary J., Cat Stevens, Jeff Buckley, ABBA, Nina Simone, Francis Cabral, Usher, Jane's Addiction, Al Green, Sublime, Jurassic 5, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Fugees, Digable Planets (wish they'd get back together!), Neil Diamond, the Go-Gos, Sinead O'Connor, Mozart, Coldplay, Simon and Garfunkel, James Taylor, Lenny Kravitz (older stuff), and a million other artists that just aren't coming to mind.
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Jason Mraz, Amos Lee, James Morrison, Imogen Heap, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Timbaland. And the Clark Brothers--have you SEEN them?! All right, that's all my brain can handle right now.
Wait, here's one I forgot: Beastie Boys, anyone?

Books
"There is no such thing as a weird human being, It's just that some people require more understanding than others.” ~~Tom Robbins
I do love Tom Robbins. I am also quite fond of Milan Kundera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Hermann Hesse, Kerouac, Rainier Maria Rilke, W. Somerset Maugham, Rita Gross, Natalie Goldberg, Alan Watts, Sigmund Freud, Desmond Morris, all of the FOUND books, and many, many others. I'll add them as they occur to me.
Ooh, just thought of one of my more recent favorites: *The Perks of
Being a Wallflower* by Stephen Chbosky! Read it! You won't regret it!
And you know what? I really love The Dictionary. Doesn't matter which one (the dotcom version is just fine); I can spend an embarrassing amount of time looking up words and thinking about them. Yeah. I'm a dork.
Heroes
My heroest of heroes...Alan Watts. How I wish I could have met him, but he died around the time of my birth. Such bad timing! But then, what is time? Just ask Alan....
About me:
“If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. If it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. But I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve or save the world and a desire to enjoy or savor the world. This makes it hard to plan a day.” ~~E. B. White
"A sense of humor, properly developed, is superior to any religion so far devised." ~~Tom Robbins
Hmmm...what ABOUT me? Here are some random facts: I regard Pringles and Cool Whip as pinnacle achievements of humankind. I mean, how do they DO it?? I'm a bad, bad Buddhist. Not proud of that, just honest. I'm a language snob. I try not to be too critical, but I do love grammar. If you catch me breaking the rules, don't worry about correcting me; I meant to do that! Some of my biggest pet peeves involve bad usage. I won't like you any less, but it will silently drive me crazy if you refer to somebody's point as 'mute' or use the phrase 'begs the question' to mean that there's an obvious query at hand and you're about to make it. (This means YOU, Matt Lauer!) I really did lose on Jeopardy!. Total bummer. I collect magnets from places I've been. I LOVE my magnet collection; each one has a story. There are things floating around my brain that make me laugh out loud every time I think of them. For example, I can't listen to "Amazing Grace" without hearing the tune to the theme from Gilligan's Island in my head. Cracks me up!
While I'm at it, here are a couple other things that make me laugh:
Three old ladies were walking down the street.
First Old Lady: Windy today, isn't it?
Second Old Lady: No, I think it's Thursday.
Third Old Lady: So am I! Let's all go have a drink!
One bright day in the middle of night
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
Came and shot the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
Ask the blind man; he saw it, too.
And lastly....
Chester came to school and said,
"Durn, I growed another head."
Teacher said, "It's time you knowed
The word is 'grew' instead of 'growed'."
~~Shel Silverstein
I have a list of favorite jokes, numbered from one to five (and then a bunch of others in no particular order). If I like you enough I'll tell 'em. :)
My ubergoof status notwithstanding, I actually have a great sense of reverence for things, for life and for each person's experience of it. It's just that my response, ultimately, is laughter.
Thank you for your support over the last few weeks. It was a time of great stress for me, and without your support and understanding I would have buckled.Thank you again and I love you. xxxx
Hey H! It was great to get to see you and everyone again! Had a great time! No bunny gonna scare me off lol dont be a stranger! Talk to ya later! Love ya!
yes, i was very happy with that pic but i looked at it again and it seems fitting of me, both the flowers, the one hiding and bending a bit and the one out and bold and beautiful all strong so that's interesting. ;) i was happy to share the story! i think it was a bit too big inside my heart there for a minute and needed to spill a lil. =) thx for stopping by with all the comments!
Funny, wouldn't you say, how one can feel a way and also look that way but yet the word means the opposite?! What is that?, homonymic? Perhaps the secret of which you are withholding is toxic? Hmm? LOL! Hey girl, get well. I heard laughter works best.
