I'm
writing to you to ask for your help in helping out my mentor,
teacher and good friend Johnny Vidacovich.
Johnny and his wife Deborah's house is in need of major
repairs and they are in need of financial help. To compound
matters, Johnny
is developing arthritis in his right thumb. I want to keep
him from having to play every single gig that comes his way so
that the arthritis doesn't get worse. This is the house that
I learned my most important musical lessons in. This is
also the house that Kevin O'day, Brian Blade and many other great
drummers learned in. Johnny is one of the most unique drummers
in the world and is a New Orleans treasure.
So I want to help them in as many was as I can by letting as
many people as I know that:
- Johnny
will be teaching lessons at the house for the next few
weeks at a discounted rate of $75 an hour
- You can book the lessons with Deborah via email at jvidacovich@cox.net
- You can make a donations to the Vidacovich cause by
mailing a check made out to Johnny Vidacovich to 4816 Bienville
St. New Orleans, LA 70119
- You can make a donation online below!

Stanton Moore, founding member of the immensely popular steamroller funk band Galactic, grew up in the thriving New Orleans music scene, where he absorbed the rich musical heritage of the city. In the early 90s, along with Robert Mercurio and Jeff Raines, Moore formed an early version of Galactic.
Moore’s involvement and devotion to Galactic since then has not prevented him from expanding his musical vision, as he has performed and recorded with a wide variety of musicians including Garage-a-trois (featuring Charlie Hunter, Skerik and Mike Dillon), MG5 (featuring Robert Walter, Will Bernard, Robert Mercurio and Donald Harrison), George Porter, Leo Nocentelli, Irma Thomas, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Juvenile and Corrosion of Conformity. He has recorded three records as a leader-1998’s All Kooked Out (featuring Charlie hunter, Skerik and a cast of New Orleans musicians) and 2002’s Flying the Koop (featuring Skerik, Karl Denson, Chris Wood and Brian Seeger). His forthcoming trio album, recorded in New Orleans at Preservation Hall in January of 2006, will feature Robert Walter (Greyboy Allstars, Robert Walters 20th Congress), Will Bernard (T.J. Kirk), Skerik (Critters Buggin, Garage A Trois), and Mark Mullins (MuleBone, Bonerama). The album is slated for release in September of 2006. The New Orleans native will continue touring with Galactic and his trio igniting the dance floor with grooves steeped in the Crescent City rhythmic tradition.
