Books
I do not read enough fiction. I always promise myself I will turn over that new leaf and never succeed. That said, I love Philip Roth and have read most of his books. I like David Sedaris but have only read a few of his books (and even those aren't fiction). That's about all I got...
Sadly the only new additions to my library have been books about documentary filmmaking and fundraising (which doesn't make for great cocktail party chatter).
Heroes
Frank Zappa, Cornel West, Philip Roth, Charles Mingus, Muhammad Ali, Amy Goodman, Ralph Stanley, Chuck D, Johnny Cash, Richard Pryor
I'm coming home tomorrow!!! I am so homesick for KY..... I will be there through Sunday. Come on up or maybe we could meet in Nashville one day. Second thought, come to Bardstown, it has been far too long since I have given you the tour of the town.
Just wanted to stop by and say "thank you" for your work. It's always inspiring to me when gifted people use their talent to inform and move people to action. I'm proud to feature your page among my top friends!
Thanks, Dustin. You're a badass dude! I'm glad, if nothing else, that this year has put me in contact with a large group of very cool people from all over the country. And, hey, don't let the bastards grind you down ;o) You'll be back in the city before you know it.
I'm sure you already heard about the good news on the Burge front, but if not...10 cops were subpoenaed last week and have to appear before the grand jury on June 19th. I heard Flint Taylor talking about it on the radio yesterday.
Amen! Maybe there will be some justice.......
I saved a newspaper article for you and i am going to send it south tomorrow.
i look forward to seeing your film and i am sure many others will too!
I heard an interview with the director of the film on NPR the other day. it sparked my curiosity and i'm gonna go see it. brief synopsis: this man and his wife and nine kids live in a small rv for yrs., venturing around the country in search of new places to surf. the kids are home schooled in the rv. i can't imagine having such a nomadic childhood. anyway, the family and the father seem pretty interesting.
i'm heading to that farm in michigan today. i will call you on the way so we can discuss it in further detail....
Ev'r body knows I am one hard-ass bastart--a street fighter--you know? But Jesse Jackson, c'mon! I want to leave some kind of sassy comment, but I can not because that is some serious shit. Dude! I am proud of you.
