Speedfreak is a badass, 4 - piece, Rock N Roll outfit whose music reeks of testosterone, oil, alcohol and smoke. Enough said.
A Brief Bio
In late summer / early fall of 2006, Speedfreak was formed from the bastard remains of a band called Southern Hospitality. Kevin and Sean (aka Memphis & Ziggy) got tired of playing in bullshit local bands and decided to start a band of their own. They recruited Tommy Kooch on vocals and rythm guitar, and Tom brought along Pitchfork Renegade drummer Alex Bamuel. Within three weeks of forming, Speedfreak played two awful shows at Ye Olde Town Inn and the Congress Theater. But they didn't throw in the towel just yet. Despite the persistant bitching of band members' girlfriends, school, hectic work schedules, and drug problems, Speedfreak practiced hard and played an awesome show in Spring of 2007 at the Park Ridge Teen Center. For the next year, Speedfreak gigged relentlessly around the Chicagoland area, playing in bars, clubs, churches, parties, and even on the front steps of the Park Ridge Library. They showed up everywhere that needed a band ( or didn't ), and paused only briefly to record the lacklaster demo "Summer Ought Seven" before moving on to deliver the next sonic kick-to-the-teeth that is their live show. In Spring of 2008, due to some unfortunate circumstances, Tommy Kooch, Memphis and Ziggy had to part ways with Alex. To replace Alex's position on the drum throne, Speedfreak brought in longtime band friend, fan & fellow Hell-raiser Matt Balow. Once the lineup was sealed, the band began work on it's debut album, "Cocky N' Loaded", expected sometime in late April / early May of 2008. With Balow's hell-driven, virgin - slaying, explosive drumming drumming, Ziggy's relentless, infectious, deep bass grooves, the raunchy, shredding, raw guitar of Memphis, and Tommy Kooch's sleazy, dirty vocals, adding up to a live show that'll blow your balls through your butthole, Speedfreak is hear to fuckin' stay.
