Few things compare to the extremes one might experience on any given night of
Sonic Circuits. If you enter the venue during a barely audible, improvised, electroacoustic
set John Cage would argue that your footsteps have become part of the piece.
The next artist may have you digging around your pocket or purse for earplugs due to
indefinable, high-pitched, electronic noises. The musical performances range from
ambient to abrasive, while the artists demonstrate traditional compositional structure,
improvisational mastery, and expertly organized chaos. During set breaks people move
amplifiers and test microphones over a sea of conversations held by the voices of artists,
educators, musicians, software engineers, dancers, activists, curators, inventors, poets,
and the curious. Sonic Circuits Festival of
Experimental Music was initiated by the American Composers Forum (ACF) to provide
DC’s music and art communities with the opportunity to sample experimental and avantgarde
electronic music, with an emphasis on improvisation, and artistic uses of new
technologies. Now heading into its 8th year, the Washington DC chapter of the ACF has expanded
the scope of the Festival to include electroacoustic compositions, experimental jazz,
noise rock, electronic drone, experimental folk, as well as live video and film. Sonic Circuits seeks to foster the spirit of collaboration through the
diversity of participating artists, and its varied programming appeals to arts enthusiasts
of all types.
The next festival is scheduled to take place October 3-12, 2008 in various venues in Washington DC.

Then Join Art Whino for an OUT OF THIS WORLD experience as we celebrate Yuri’s Night, a World Space Party commemorating Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, and the first human space flight. Yuri's Night is like the St. Patrick’s Day or Cinco de Mayo for space. It is a day when the world comes together to celebrate the power, beauty, and party potential of space. So dress yourself in your best celestial attire (prizes awarded); come see an art exhibition of other-worldly magnitude, and enjoy a Vodka of space themed libations by Stoli Vodka. Cosmic burlesque performances featuring Miss Saturn, spaced out Russian-style post-punk music by Mr. Moccasin, spacey DJ sets, and more will temporarily elevate you from your daily earthly existence.
Performances by: Miss Saturn, Gilded Lily Burlesque, L’il Dutch & selected scenes from Landless Theatre Company’s Space Battles the Musical will orbit throughout the night, hosted by the enigmatic Master Uranus

You guys, I've been told I need to do a better job of promotimg my band, so I'm trying my hand at ye olde myspace spamming... Have you ever been friends with a myspace spammer? Have you ever woken up next to a myspace spammer? I figure in the future we'll all probably be robots anyway, so I'm cool with it...
Here it is: Treetops! The first lp by Staplerfahrer and also the first lp released by HeilsKabaal Records. The A side is the soundtrack to 'Treetops for the new millenium (a film by Mahatma LeRoi)'. It's a 15 minutes long, Stars of the Lid like track. Slowly builing with lots of hidden tension. On the other side we find 'Lullaby (for my Dad)', also a slowy arising, captivating piece, but more staccato. Finally there is 'Lover's Breath' a very open and clear piece of sound recordings.
