SNW is an experimental fusion ensemble that began in January 2007 and was sucked down an extradimensional blackhole in March 2008. The core members, pursuing group improvisation, were Luke Palmer, keyboards and Evan Cantor, bass guitars. The groups first drummer, Phil Rummings, gave us a good start and left for Hawaii in Spring 2007. Then Eric Hoaglund joined up as both drummer and recording engineer. Between May 2007 and February 2008, Eric participated on all 10 volumes of "Exploring The Space Funk Continnuum" and all 10 volumes of "Extradimensional Megafunk", as well as the "Jazz at The Doghouse" disc. Eric abandoned the North American continent in March 2008, when Bob Mulligan joined as drummer, bringing gargantuan jazz chops to the group. Everything was rolling along like a Klingon Battle Cruiser on Full Cloak until Luke took a dream-job in Europe. But what a ride!! And it's not over yet--playing impromptu gigs at The Bug Theatre in Denver and at McFadden's Birthday proved that SNW still has life in it. Eric came back from South America and Luke continues to shuttle back and forth from Belgium, so the reunion shows have begun. Strange New Worlds explores the Space-Funk Continuum, fusing elements from Pink Floyd to Miles Davis, Soft Machine, Medeski Martin & Wood to Mozart and Prokofiev. Their ExtraDimensional Megafunk is a unique combination of psychedelic jazz and progressive space-rock. They perform with a rotating cast of guest members, including Aaron DiVesta (saxophone), Nolan McFadden (guitar, vocals), Rob Rodgers (DJ and guitar) Willow (vocals) and poets Leo Goya, Kayanne Pickens, Marcelo Games and Burt Rashbaum. Every performance is unique. Venues included Denvers Dazzle Lounge, the Rock-N-Soul Cafe, the Dairy Center for The Arts, and Thunderbird Burgers & BBQ.
