The Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass Band is a 16-piece brass street band. While our roots are planted firmly in the fertile New Orleans brass band tradition, we consider the entire planet's worth of good music as a resource we can plunder for inspiration and material. In our band, diversity's the key.
We are a honk band; regular Joes and Janes with day jobs who combine music with progressive social action -- slamming out the sounds of the legendary Crescent City for peace rallies, street festivals, theater companies, parades, benefits, even funerals. Our motto: ''We aim to please if the cause is true and the time is right."

When you're working to shut down the war machine, environmental destruction, the world free trade efforts, racist and classist mofos, corporate swine and their media lapdogs, repressive laws, the fascist police state, and capitalism itself -- when you're working to support indigenous rights, the freedom of women and children (and men, for that matter), civil liberties and free speech, poor people and homeless folk -- when you're engaged in anarchist and anti-authoritarian struggles -- we want to help!
Trash Orchestra is a marching percussion band – a bone-shaking recycled orchestra. We make percussion on tuned cans, hubcaps and barrels, drums, pieces of sheet metal, and homemade oddities. We show up invited and uninvited at protests and celebrations, furors and fracases.
Invite us next time there's a need to make a ruckus, to shout out and make a big noise. We're there.
