Sounds Like
All of the above. No, really, we don't claim to sound like anything, but please don't say Kittie. Loud riffs and singer gender don't make for correct similarities, godamnit.
Siv formed in 1999 as a response to a musician want ad. Two of them, in fact. Emmalee, an angsty and musically clueless teen at the time, responded to an ad looking for a vocalist in a metal band, only to find out that group that placed it was no longer together. Not to be discouraged, and encouraged by the need to be more like Mike Patton on a daily basis, she placed her own ad looking for a band. Dan was the first to respond, his attention grabbed by Emmalee's listed influences of NIN, Faith No More, and cartoon theme songs from the 80s. It just so happens that Dan had just started making music again with Glenn, a drummer he had played with in a previous band. Though they had every intention of making folk pop music, the addition of a loud goth kid as the singer quickly caused a shift in genres. Metal, however, was never planned on and just happened naturally - even from the initial audition where Emmalee screamed nursery rhymes over Dan's carefully crafted riffs. Siv was born, and played a handful of very loud shows before coming to an early end in 2002. Three years and many other bands later, Siv is back together again, and as before, the metal just happens.
