"Saying that something would go great on a mixtape sounds like a backhanded compliment, but in the case of local sextet Sing Leaf, it’s just that some things that sound good in the daytime sound great played late at night, curled up under a blanket with a handwritten cassette sleeve. This is swoony stuff even by indie folk-pop standards." - Dave Morris,
Eye Weekly
"Introspective and dense and serious as the dead of November." - John Sakamoto, Toronto Star
"Their sound is warm and sincere, and offers promising comparisons to many of the ripened initiatives in similar genres ... it is becoming quite accurate to describe Toronto as a hub for experimental musicians ... Sing Leaf joins this rich community that continues to shape what is coming to be." - Anna Spadafora, Torontoist
"As soon as I heard the backwards acoustic guitar and twining flute flourishes which open this record, I knew I was going to enjoy what followed. There’s a wistful, elegiac quality to the music ... their arrangements show much colour and the songs are well recorded." - John Cavanagh, Foxy Digitalis
"I’d call it hypnotic electro-infused folk music, but you might call it something else. No matter what you call it, I call it one of the most fascinating Toronto bands I’ve stumbled upon in some time." - Dan Wolovick, Two Way Monologues

That was a great set at The Boat. What I sensed is that spontaneous spirit to create, perhaps in the same vein as Brian Wilson, fused with delicate folk-landscapes, lush and atmospheric, laced with fluttering analog sounds. A powerful introspective journey, passion and fire, that makes you hope for the light of dawn.
everyone has been raving about your set on thursday. Personaly, I think it could have used a little more soaring facemelters and drums solos, but thats just me.
Take 5? Thats one of my fave shows on CIUT, along with Funky Fridays...but I digress....Congrats, I'm sure alot of people will be listening to you guys! I will most definitely try to catch it!!
