International singer and violinist Simone Welsh has garnered a worldwide reputation for her fresh approach to traditional Scottish music while remaining respectfully true to the genre’s roots.
From Robert Burns to Judy Garland, her performances effortlessly marry traditional classics with contemporary counterparts. In the last decade she has toured extensively throughout the world, having the pleasure to play for a host of luminaries including both the British and Spanish royal families, sporting legends Pele and George Best and Hollywood royalty Tom Hanks. Equally Simone has never lost the common touch, this was personified when she received a standing ovation from 50,000 rugby fans when she played Murryfield stadium.
Simone was born in a small mining village on the west coast of Scotland and began playing the violin at the tender age of five. Her ability was soon recognized by the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland who made her a representative, giving her the opportunity to tour Europe with many orchestra’s including La Joven Orquesta Nacional de España.
While attending the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, studying a Bachelor of Arts in music, Simone was in constant demand as a session musician. The experience at such a young age of playing a wide variety of musical styles was to stand her in good stead on the cabaret circuit.
The List said: “An outstanding talent…… Her voice has the hurt of country music with a chill out twist”
Time Out said: “Songs of war and tears written over a quarter of millennia ago have a mellow, melancholic glow, while still holding 21st Century relevance.”
Simone is recording her debut album “Diving for Pearls” which is due for release in 2008.
guess who's failing her music history exam in an hour and 15 mins.

don't laugh at me for not living in new york tho :( not my fault i have no money to!! one day i will...and you'll have lost ALL your money, and will be living in a cardboard box on john finnie street in killie, and i'll be over for my world wide tour of everywhere (because everyone everywhere WILL love me) and i'll stumble upon you in the street...and then i'll sing that song to you, even if it's not your birthday, because you won't know when your birthday will be anyway because you won't have a calendar. so then you'll think that it's your birthday, which will make you less embarrassed when i give you money (which i'll actually just be giving you because i feel sorry for you).
ahahah, then we'll see who the one laughing is!! aye missy, it'll be ME, so unless ur wantin a kickin i suggest u stop laughin and MON BACK HERE AND STOP HAVIN FUN IN NEW YORK!!!
