we've also got remixes on the new j-wess single coming later this year.
For Simon Johnson aka Sidestep, it's all about the dance floor. Sidestep's feet tap in his sleep.
Sidestep produces House music but his love for banging beats and infectious grooves is spread evenly across all genres of dance music, from Reggae to R&B, Latin to Hip-Hop.
Sidestep got his training wheels as the co-writer and bassist for the now disbanded live five-piece outfit Gathered Grooves. He has since polished up his production skills and released a handful of underground remixes that have totalled over a thousand downloads worldwide. His remix of The Loose Cannons' "Superstars" got a spin on Kiss FM London and from there he was asked to remix their next single "What Have You Done For Me Lately?". More recently, his "No Diggity slow-down" and "Jackin Phenomenon" bootlegs have been charted by The Sound Republic (Chicago) and played across the globe.
In early 2008 Sidestep scored a deal with Top 10 producer J-Wess's new label Lighthouse Records. With two remixes for the label complete and more in the making, he is set to follow with original material in 2009.
Sidestep is taking his sound straight to the clubs so if you like to jack, shake and bump it, be sure to check out a Sidestep DJ set.
