Imagine hearing this amazing music, waking up and being able to transcribe it wholesale, but to find the lyrics go "Scrambled Eggs.." (Yesterday) It obviously needed some work. See Emily Play by Syd Barrett was the best example of a "dream song." Yes, don't let your friends anywhere near this stuff. Chew on it, internalise it, so the secret is safe. I'm not offended if you find you can't swallow it, or it gives you heartburn. Please report any symptoms to me immediately. It is not necessarily my point simply to attempt derive music from dreams, but to maybe capture something of the essence, texture and flavour of that music. How do I make music that sounds like sunlight on glass?..or make songs that literally chime and vibrate with complicated and unexpected chords of the kind I have heard? That is where the work starts and the imagination kicks in. Almost from the moment I picked up an instrument I experimented with sounds, boring my mum to death with my obsessive plinking and plonking, many ideas the results of happy accidents and randomness...and magic.
