SHAKE YOUR PEACE! is a folk band that tries to play music as much as possible and work jobs as little as possible. We make harmony onstage with guitar, fiddle, cello, drum, singing songs about all kinds of things, from kissing people, to war. Offstage we make harmony by riding our bikes and public transportation when we go on tour, powering the majority of our shows with a homemade pedal-powered PA system (the audience pedals), hosting our website with wind and solar power, and other things that you can read about on our website (www.ShakeYourPeace.com). In the spirit of keeping as many things as we can in their free and wild state, all of our songs are "Anti-Copyright/Pro-Stewardship," and we don't put prices on any of our merch - instead folks support us through ShareFare (pro-stewardship) donations if they feel moved to. As co-founders of the San Francisco Bicycle Music Festival (www.BicycleMusicFestival.com) SHAKE YOUR PEACE! wants to cultivate the biking-band paradigm, and dreams longingly of participating in Critical Mass-style Bicycle Music Festivals that roll across multiple states with 80,000 feral music fans, 50 strong willed bands, and the hugest modular pedal-powered PA scene ever conceived, taking over small towns, highways, and even freeways, putting on concerts in the far flung fields and scenic wild places. :::: Email us if you live in on the Pacific Coast between Vancouver BC and San Francisco (our upcoming tour route) and let's set a show up at your school, house, farm, or favorite cliff overlook... Thanks for reading the bio! Hope we get to ride with you soon...
No, thank you! For playing around here. Your music is truly wonderful, and you're doing amazing things for this planet and the people that live on it. THANK YOU. Much love, Josaleigh

BLACK SHAKESPEARE is a man of many talents: singer-songwriter, toaster, producer, club promoter, and radio DJ, to the a few. He is a co-founder of the LA nightclub, Chocolate Bar, and has music in his genes. A cousin of bassist Robbie Shakespeare of Sly & Robbie, he is also related to the jazz musician Carl Shakespeare. Carl taught me about music, he says in an article in the New Angeles Monthly. I went to school for audio engineering and did my first recording studio assistant position with the Scientist.
Born in Jamaica, he moved with his family to New York City in the early 80s, where Shakespeare became involved with Hip Hop, toasting with host Jamalski at S.O.B.'s open mic venue. In 1995, he moved to Los Angeles where he met Aurelito Mercado, a Chicago transplant who hosted parties with Marvski and Cut Chemist, where people like the Black Eyed Peas, Breakestra, and Ozomatli just came to hang.

Hey buddy I've sent my adorable friend Emiko to seek you out in SF she moved on monday and has your site. Why did we miss one another when you were in town? I have your number not, now. Melt those faces, homeboy. Check out CORY DOCTOROW, who is now releasing every book he writes for free online, and offering all royalties and foreign movie rights to whoever translates his books into a new language. His books (in paper form) have, of course, trebled in sales since. He, and you, understand the power of our new world. I miss ya.
