Influences
Quirky musicians and composers...
Rickie Lee Jones, Regina Spektor, Coltrane, Otis Redding, Charles Ives, Cecil Taylor, Art Tatum, Thelonious Monk. Patty Larkin, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin... We influence each other.
Sounds Like
If you love the sound of old Bon Jovi, you will hate my music.
Some critics have made comparisons to Aimee Mann, a female Neil Young (whatever the hell that means), and Shawn Colvin.
We play music. Honestly, it's lovely if you like our sound...but this is more important to me (GB) than promoting music. This is our bassist Richard Gates, heart transplant recepient who cycled from Cleveland, OH to Boston , MA to raise awareness about organ donation and well see for yourself.
i wanna tip off all my WMASS friends that i have a very big show coming up on 9/20, and i need you guys to see this.
Mike has a bunch of new songs that we've been recording for his upcoming CD and we'd like to play them for YOU! we have a show @ the basement with "the grown up noise" (BOSTON) and "the brass". the deal with the show is this; we are going to be giving away free cd samplers of mike's new album "the leaving train"!!!
it's going to be a seriously killer show. Steve Lewis is going to be playing bass for us, and from the way the sessions have been going, it's going to be a very powerful performence!
here are the details: Saturday 9/20/2008 10pm-til??? The Basement Center St. Northampton MA (BEHIND TABLE 9)
we are playing first up @ 10pm sharp. the show is FRRREEEEEEE! plus, we have free CD's for you too, you can't lose!!!!
also, the grown up noise and the brass will finish off the night nicely. trust me you will want to stick around!
