   About Sarah White

 A B O U T

 : : : : : : :

A haunting voice, subtle lyrics, and an independent style define the music of Virginia singer-songwriter SARAH WHITE. Her sound crosses the traditional genres of rock and country, inviting comparisons to a broad spectrum of artists including Hazel Dickens and Patti Smith. Sarah's talent for songwriting received national accolades at the 2007 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest where she won Best Song for "Sweetheart", the title track from her latest CD. Sarah performs most frequently with guitarist Ted Pitney (King Wilkie).

  P R E S S

  : : : : : : :

It’s an album both spare and powerful… combining the forcefulness of rock and the soul of country. At the sonic center of the album is Sarah’s voice, the newly mature, edge-of-tears, catch-in-the-throat, flat-out heartbreaking voice.

-- Tobias Beard, C’VILLE

Gorgeous, catchy and ultimately moving songs…

-- Ryan Muldoon, Richmond-Times Dispatch

Every now and then there'll be a record that sounds like it dropped out of the sky with no accompanying context, no obvious influences or antecedents, no preconceived notions of what scene it's supposed to fit into. That's the situation with BLUEBIRD, the excellent new album by Virginia singer/songwriter Sarah White...

-- Paul Lukas, New York Press

A delicately bare and pretty album that ensures the singer-songwriter a place in the company of Cat Power's Chan Marshall and Edith Frost. Yep, that good.

-- Cory Brown, San Francisco Bay Guardian

Bonjour Sarah,

I was supposed to come to Charlotesville this fall, but it won't happened...... It could have been a good chance to see you live there.

I do hope you'll come and play Paris very soon.

Much love from France.

What a unique voice! Glad our paths crossed, Sarah.

I wonder if you and your friends might help a fellow artist...

Stephanie's Id is on the brink of something big and wonderful... Just a few days ago, they weren't even in the Top 100 in the Austin City Limits Festival contest. As of this moment, they are well within the Top 100 at #73!!!! They need a few more votes to secure their chance of advancing.
