Sounds Like
what's more interesting than what it sounds like (thermin and ben franklin's glass armonica) is the history of the saw. it's a bavarian tradition from longLong ago. eventually, it comes to the US and is part of the vaudville stage tradition.
i always find it endearing when folks tell me: "an old guy down the street from me when i was growing up use to play the saw" or "i saw that on pbs once."
and perhaps this is a point of interest: my german last name, Holtschlag, breaks down to holt ="holz" = wood + schlag = "to hit". in colloquial german, i am told, my last name translates to "woodcutter" or "a clearing in the woods".
((i just might be a cartoon.))
i play a 26" stainless steel blade from ace hardware like i'm my own stage monkey. Sometimes i sing mopey girl folks songs on the guitar. And later on, i pluck murder ballads on my ukelele.
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
sarah, your voice is so pure and sweet that it would have made hitler stop being a pigfucker and take off on a westbound cannonball making stew for hobos... can't wait to jam with you again!!! christopher :)
Hey Sarah, The band and I are having a cd release party at the Beat Kitchen this Sunday May 18. Doors at 8pm and first 25 people get a free cd and free admission. Also, 2 beer tickets for all involved. hope to see you again, bw
I guess we did. Nathan Xander still lives in the city. I miss Chicago but it is surprisingly cool up here. William and I will be down there this summer to record some sort of split LP. You should stop by and saw and sing on it some.
