I enjoy movies, live theater, sight-seeing, travelling, shopping (naturally), reading, writing, photography, videography, meeting new people, church, fund-raising events for important causes, concerts, the holidays in New York City, hanging out with my younger brother, who has autism, visiting museums and art galleries, Internet surfing, and attending workshops.
I am proud to announce my family's participation in YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities Network's 21st Annual Central Park Challenge on May 31, 2008. We have been involved with YAI since my brother Alberto, who has autism, began attending the Brooklyn Day Program in 1991 and we have participated in the Central Park Challenge since 2000. We have formed a walk team called The Loyal Acevedos and Friends for the 3K Walk.
I hope you will make a generous gift to support this exciting and important event.
The support that is raised through the Central Park Challenge makes a real difference in the lives of infants, children, and adults with autism, Down syndrome, mental retardation, and other developmental disabilities.
It's really exciting knowing how the money we raise is touching the lives of people with disabilities and their families.
Your gift to the Central Park Challenge can help create happy endings for other families, like Amanda's. It's a great feeling to know that you're helping to give a child with disabilities a brighter, happier future.
Thanks so much for your loyal support! Mwaah!

We also presented Criss with a giant birthday card made by myself and my brother Alberto, who has autism. You can see more clips from "Midnfreak" on A&ETV.com.

Heroes
My brother Alberto, who never fails to inspire me, Pope John Paul II, who I never met but so admire and love, my parents, who raised three children in New York City, including their youngest child with a disability, and searched for years for services and schools for him at a time when so little was known about autism. My older brother Antonio, who served his country for twenty years in the US Navy and now dedicates himself to raising his son in Mexico. All the police officers, firefighters, emergency workers and all the first responders and volunteers who came to our rescue on September 11, 2001, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. God Bless All.
About me: Hola. Yo soy la Leal mas Linda en Nueva York!My family moved from Puerto Rico to New York before I was born. I have two brothers and no sisters. My younger brother Alberto has autism and I have become an advocate for autism research and education because of him. My astrological sign is Virgo and my favorite colors are red, gold and pink. I'm single and looking for some new friends. We'll have lots to talk about, no doubt. Stay tuned for more.
Who I'd like to meet: I have already met some of the people I have admired over the years, including singers Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Gloria Gaynor and Teena Marie. I also recently met Criss Angel, the most amazing multitalented performer and human being I am privileged to know. Most recently, I met Dr. Temple Grandin, author of "Thinking in Pictures" who was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as a child. I am also very fortunate to have met many intelligent, hard-working and loving people dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and education of children and adults with developmental disabilities, and tp providing services to their families, including siblings, such as myself, who have been overlooked in the past. I have also been very fortunate to have recently met many of my loyal friends from the CA.com board in person in Las Vegas and in New York.
I would definitely want to meet more of my new friends who are involved with organizations dealing with autism research and services, such as Cure Autism Now and the Autism Society of America. I am also interested in meeting more siblings of people with developmental disabilities such as autism.
On June 2, 2007, my family and friends will be in New York for the annual Central Park Challenge and Family Fun Day. The Loyal Acevedos and Friends Walk Team will do the 3K Walk to raise money for the programs and services provided by the Young Adult Institute/National Institute for People with Disabilities. Check out our web page at www.yai.org/cpc for more information about how to join the team or to make a donation. Thanks for your support!
And of course, I want to meet Criss Angel again! Right, my lovely loyals? And more of the loyals whom I haven't met yet.
Hey U: Send me some of that wonderful NY Fall colors.... we don't do that well in CA LOL .... Thinking of ya and hoping you are having a great weekend! XO Cin
