Sammy won the coveted MAMA (Modesto Area Music Award) in 2002 for her group, Magnolia Rhythm. Magnolia Rhythm tied with the Puffin' Billies (Dave Hanley's former group) in the Americana genre. She now performs with a full band, as a quartet with her family and solo as well. Depending on the venue, her various ensembles perform folk, bluegrass, rock and pop. Sammy plays covers and some of Jackson Leverone's originals.
10/19/07-All the songs on this site have been recently recorded. The band that recorded these songs consists of Sammy and her family (Scott, Lauren and Jackson). This quartet has been performing mostly semi-acoustically lately.
Lauren sings lead vocal on "When I Die." Jackson and Sammy sing harmony vocals. Jackson sings lead vocal on "Tiki Bar." Sammy sings the harmony.
The full rock-style band is still available for hire, when the need arises.
Sammy comes from a musical family. Her brother Wendell is a member of the band "The Bridge." Sister, Deb Farrell and sister-in-law Penny Gail White (Wendell's wife) are part of Shelly Streeter's doowop group, "The Sensations." Family get togethers at Christmas are always full of music as you can see from the pics below.
The very late 70's looking photo is of Sammy's band from that era.."The Stoneroad Band." The guy in the flashy lime green satin cowboy shirt is Randy Threlfall. Randy is currently playing in the band, "David J. Slate and Rocket 88" who just won the 2007 MAMA in the blues category.
