JOHN---
Rhode Island-born “Fabulous” John Fagan is a versatile and experienced musician who has performed in a variety of situations (bars, clubs, festivals, opening act slots, recording projects) as a guitarist (lead & rhythm, electric & acoustic), mandolinist and vocalist (harmony and lead). With a passion for performing and a distinct sound that is steeped in country, blues and rock & roll, Fagan has the right blend of musicianship and showmanship to complement your band/project.
John Fagan started playing the guitar at the age of eleven. He took lessons at Arruda Music, a music studio in Pawtucket directed by August Arruda, Jr. Under the study of guitarist Peter Lepre, Fagan competed successfully as a classical guitarist in the regional ATAM Music Competitions, winning 1st place in his age group in 1991, 2nd place in the New England Guitar Championship in 1992, and 1st place in the Championship in 1993. It was also at Arruda Music that Fagan first met and studied with Rhode Island veteran musician Buddy Cavaleri. Cavaleri provided Fagan with a well-rounded music education, including improvisation, theory, sight-reading and other music essentials. Cavaleri also taught Fagan to play in the styles of blues, rock 'n' roll and country.
During his college years, Fagan could be found at various open mic nights playing some of his favorite covers as well as his original songs. In late 1999, after buying a mandolin and spending some time learning it, he began playing regular gigs with his former teacher, Buddy Cavaleri.
Since then, Fagan has performed in a variety of bands and has traveled throughout all of New England. Some of his past projects include:
-The Incredible Two-Man Band - this acoustic duo, comprised of Fagan and Buddy Cavaleri (www.bucavamusic.com), played classic rock/oldies, classic country and blues standards, as well as some of Cavaleri’s original music, in many bars and taverns throughout New England. The duo also performed at several large festivals, including the Taste of Rhode Island Festival and the Oktoberfest, both in Newport, Rhode Island. Fagan and Cavaleri also opened for folksinger Jonathan Edwards and James Taylor’s brother, Livingston Taylor, at the Newport Sunset Music Festival.
-The South County Boys - this 4-piece electric band featured Buddy Cavaleri and John Fagan playing classic rock, classic country and blues at various bars, parties and outdoor events.
-Chad Burdick & The Real Deal – this was a 5-piece country band fronted by Massachusetts singer Chad Burdick (www.chadburdick.com). The band played Top 40 Country, as well as music from Chad Burdick’s CD “What’s in Store”, at many casinos, clubs, fairs and festivals. They also shared the stage with such country acts as Andy Griggs, Jamie O'Neal, Lee Roy Parnell and the legendary Charlie Daniels Band.
-Seven Bridges - this local roots-rock band consisted of Fagan, singer/songwriter/guitarist Tod McKenna, bassist Dan Simanski, and drummer Nando Neves. Seven Bridges played original music written by Fagan and McKenna at various clubs in Rhode Island.
John Fagan currently lives in Seattle, WA. To be continued…
GREGG---Lead Vocals, Lead and Rhythm Guitar. Gregg was born in Hawthorne California, but moved to the Northwest as a child where he was raised. His early musical influences were Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, CCR, and southern rockers like Lynyrd Skynyrd, but when Alabama started crankin’ out the hits in the early 80’s, he knew country music, (with a little attitude), was what he wanted to focus on. He soon started playing professionally and started his own band “Horizon”. He has played with various country bands, which include: Horizon, The Freeze, Auburn Avenue Theatre Opry Band, 8 Second Ride, Tequila Rose, and Renegade, to name a few, at nightclubs, fairs, festivals, and private parties throughout the area, for over 20 years now. Gregg usually plays Fender electric guitars with Fender amps.
