About me: It is with great sadness that I have decided to build this site. However we are all connected in some way through myspace so i felt this the perfect medium to grieve/mourn/and honor Ron's works. He was a great inspiration to all of us in the Detroit Music Scene and around the world. I personally will miss the time we spent while mastering a record; his stories were amazing.
Please feel free to use this as a sounding board and post comments, etc...

The legendary Mr. Ron Murphy mastered almost every record I've ever made . I've also had the true pleasure of learning a lot from this man of many great accomplisments including the mastering of the classic Motown sound, the sound of Detroit Techno, and the inventor of the one sided double grooved record (where you can play 2 different songs on the same side of a record)!
One of the main things Ron taught me was in order to truly support music from Detroit artists I should purchase their music. This is why I never concerned myself with getting promos. To this day, if I like a song I will buy it rather than ask for a free copy (especially when it concerns my friends in the music industry).
GOD places people in our life for a specific reason. It was an honor to know him. I will miss Ron, but I will never forget Ron!
Ron was a true Audio Engineer. One of the guys that made his own gear, wrote standards and always had the best music biz stories ever! I learned a lot from Ron while working as an Engineer for Wall Street Records 1992-1997. He loved to talk shop. He was one of the last great vinyl guys. He will be missed - his wiseguy personality and the cigars. Let his stories and knowledge carry on. Robert
I frequent the Serato Scratch Live DJ forum a lot, when Mike Grant told me about Ron - I need to post and let all the DJ worldwide know how this one man helped to influence a musical Planet...

Over the weekend, I heard about the passing of Ron Murphy of National Sound Corp. , a local Mastering guy here in Detroit who did the Mastering for all the guys who were making Techno and House here in Detroit (think of ANY Detroit based label - UR, Metroplex, Transmat, KMS, +8 etc )
Without him and our local pressing plant Archer Records, the whole Detroit Techno scene that influenced the world may not have happened.
how sad it is you are not with us anymore ron. thanks for cutting my last record a few months ago, and taking out the time to walk me through tips to make a better record.
the 3 hours you spent with me discussing this will never be forgotten.
I thought Aaron-Carl would post this but just for good measure ...

Like many people in this music industry, Ron had no insurance.
As this is a VERY trying time for the family, the very least we can do is give a little to support the man who has done SO MUCH for Detroit's music scene.
Thank you for the Detroit History Lesson every time i stopped by your Studio & thanks you for teaching me how to be a Vinyl Pirate. True Genius & Historian. You will be Missed.
Ron Murphy, you have taught me so much over the years. I'm glad I was able to make you proud. I will continue on, using the lessons you taught me. I'll miss our conversations. Your spirit was so important to this city -- please keep your arms wrapped around us from Heaven.
Until the next time we meet again, I'll be thinking about you...
