hi! my name is roman wreden.
i..m a singer / songwriter from stuttgart. with my former indierock-band lost in venice we..ve released 3 records.
as a solo-artist, i..ve put out 3 albums so far: "window"(2003) - voice and guitar and "make my day"(2004)-with string quartett.
for my third album "trophy" (2006) i..ve collaborated with various musicians, like daniel benjamin, timon birkhofer, roni russat of ascona, miss polyester, marie louise and others. there's acoustic guitars, strings, as well as beats, electronics and all kinds of noices and instruments.

I’m sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you, the past three months have been particularly busy for me, including a trip to Japan. Lately I have been working on new music for my next CD as well as creating new music with a vocalist friend of mine. I have just finished listening to your music here and I have to say that you are a stunning talent, a great musician. Each of your songs is filled with genuine feeling and inspiration, which keeps me coming back to listen over and over again. “She moves in the woods” I love the slow tempo of this song that eases into an intriguing melodic progression. The instrumentation is incredibly beautiful starting with the acoustic guitar and the piano. Your voice reminds me of a couple of different artists, but has a very unique sound, almost a spoken feel to it, I imagine that your speaking voice sound very much like your singing voice. The clarity of your voice is also very effective in keeping my attention, really a beautiful sound altogether.“acoustic medley” A perfect pair, your voice and the acoustic guitar. Your playing reminds me of how much I would like to develop a confidence playing the acoustic guitar. Your voice is somewhat reminiscent of Scott Walker, in its tone and phrasing, but this is very subtle. The melody is really touching, pulls on my heart strings. (continued below)
(continued from above) There is a gentleness about this song which seems to address vulnerability and gentleness in your spirit. I particularly love the lyric “...I’ve heard you moved to Mexico, you belong here...”, this is really striking line. But, I also like how you have smoothly blended one song into the next and explored various emotions or memories.“Headshot” takes things in a new direction. The mood is similar to the previous tracks, but there a feeling of disturbance, that of being troubled by loneliness. The effects on the vocal are really great sounding because they become part of the melody and add a texture to the music as a whole while at the sam time adding a darker presence to your thoughts. The arrangements are simple but very powerful and therefore moving. The low distorted bass sound is a particular favorite of mine, you really have a range of tones that create a complete and full, but not overcrowded sound.“fade in fade out” I like the motion in this track, there is a sense of running which really connects with the opening lyric ...looking back at horses I can recall a secret of my youth...“ it’s almost as if you are looking back in time and thinking about how fast time slips away. One day you look back and so much time has passed and there is an urgency to do all the things that are important, make the most of time. There is an uplifting feeling here that is inspirational. (continued from above) “trophy” This track really brings attention to your vocal style, your lyric phrasing and your lyrics in general. I like the stories you tell, they have a personal and universal feel to them. It’s as if you are exploring the feelings that we all feel and experience. Your singing, to me, seems like an effortless, it is really as if you are speaking to each and every listener while relating to their own individual experience, but also allowing for individual interpretation. This is really a lovely piece!!!“undertow” I think the sound of your guitar really appeals to my ears, there is a warmth and familiarity to it, but also the texture of the sound is really calming and comfortable. I love the melody on the chorus of this song, I can feel a genuine longing to move forward and find motion to move ahead while being challenged by a feeling, a worry, perhaps a regret. The melody of the chorus here is on the verge of heartbreaking but also inspirational. I love it!!! Thank you for the introduction to your world of music, I would love to hear more and will look at your website. Please keep in touch, you really have beautiful music here.
