Sounds Like
A mixture of Grunge and Classic rock. (Alice in chains meets Pink Floyd/Deep Purple).
We call it textured garage rock. Mid-tempo clean verses that lead into heavy chorus' with crunchy distorted guitars & lots of soloing (Especially live). The keyboards fill out the sound with natural sounding synth strings, organ & bass often soloing along with the guitar for that extreme textured sound. The drums complete the sound with strong in your face beats and killer fills and rolls.
HEMi 69 has created their own sound in the last five years that never fails to please and impress. Quickly becoming known as the loudest band in the area they're known to take down the house (literally).
But don't take our word for it, see for yourself.
HEMI 69 began in 2000 as a writing & recording project in St. Catharines, Ont. With Tim Oliver on vocals and guitar & Paul Devine on vocals & keyboards. Using a drum machine for basic beats at first they began recording cover songs by bands such as Alice Cooper, Clarknova & early Nickleback, as well as writing and recording original songs based on Tim's experiences after moving from his life-long home in Niagara falls to a small town called Dundas. And Paul's view on society and politics. Playing in a small storage room in an apartment complex, it was hard to get a good practice in but with Tim traveling back & forth two hours every weekend they managed to create a sound all their own, a mixture of grunge & classic rock with Pink Floyd as Paul's biggest influence. Over the years HEMI 69 have gone through a series of member changes including five drummers, two bassists and a rhythm guitarist. And where most bands would crumble under such pressure it only made them stronger and more skilled as musicians, with Tim and Paul remaining sole members. Now onto their fifth drummer HEMI 69 has emerged tighter and more powerful than ever. Starting from the ground up HEMI 69 is determined to take Rock & roll to the next level and show the world what hard work and perseverance can really do. We will never die and we will never be taken alive! After-all that's what Hemi's all about.
HEMI 69's achievements:
Pulse Magazine readers choice poll '04 Best local original band- Honorable mention.
Pulse Magazine readers choice poll '05 Best local original band- Top honor.
Hemi 69 has also won several battle of the bands & came in number 1 in the first week with the 2002 version of "To see you" on the Supernova entertainment charts in '03.
