It SOUNDS LIKE Rock Camp will now be operating under the MAINE ACADEMY OF MODERN MUSIC and will no longer be affiliated with the Portland Conservatory.

************************************************************************
The Maine Academy of Modern Music's popular Rock Camp Series provides young aspiring musicians a place where they can cut their teeth on some Rock 'n' Roll!
What we are offering is a weeklong crash course in Rock during which students will learn how to play in and run a successful garage band. Throughout the week kids are given opportunities to:
• Play in a rock band
• Learn about the History of the genre and even *gasp* some Music Theory
• Brush elbows with various professionals from the Music Biz
• Speak with members of local working bands
• Pick up tips about self promotion, booking, and gigging
• Learn how to play a cover song, +/or how to write an original song from scratch
• Take tours of radio stations & recording studios
• Network with other local rock kids
Basically we want to teach kids how to get a band together, how to play, and then how to get OUT of the garage and INTO a studio or ONTO a stage.
Our sessions run Monday to Friday from 10 am – 3:30 pm for students ages 12-18 yrs. The camps cost $300 per session, and will be held at various sites across the State of Maine. You can also visit MAMM's myspace page at www.myspace.com/maineacademyofmodernmusic.
Much like the camp itself, the goal of this MySpace page is to create a forum where young rockers can connect with one another, exchange ideas, and (ultimately) take over the world.
If anyone has any questions or comments about Rock Camp or the Maine Academy of Modern Music, feel free to contact Executive Director Jeff Shaw (i.e., "me") either through this website or through MAMM at (207) 831-0990.
Thanks, and we hope to see you at the next session of ROCK CAMP!
